Johann Baptist and Anna (Wagner) Jung

Johann Baptist Jung and Anna Wagner Emigrated from Germany and arrived at Port of New York on 20 August 1847, aboard the ship Erasmus. Their son Francis (Frank) was born on the voyage to America. His place of birth is recorded on the 1860 Census as "Atlantic Ocean".

They settled in McHenry Township, Illinois, Sec 2 Range 9 as shown on the 1862 and 1872 McHenry Township Plat Map. Today this location is located along the south side of Miller Road, off of Spring Grove Road. This area was known as "German Prairie", located not far from the settlement of Johnsburg, McHenry Co., Illinois.

Johann and Anna had nine more children born to them after arriving in America, six sons and three daughters. One son Anthony died as an infant.

Some of Johann and Anna's children later changed the spelling of their surname to "Young".

Johann Baptist and Anna are my maternal 3x great-grandparents, their daughter Gertrude is my 2x great-grandmother.
