| The "Zealandia" - This fine vessel arrived in our harbour on Saturday evening from Lyttelton, to which Port she has recently conveyed 360 passengers of all classes, many of whom, previous to leaving the ship, presented a complimentary address to Captain Foster. The Zealandia is a magnificent specimen of naval architecture, is 1032 tons register, and is pronounced to be one of the fleetest ships afloat:- in length she is 200 feet overall, with a beam of 37 feet, and 21 feet 6 inches depth of hold. The poop is 66 feet in length, and presents a splendid means of promenade; her 'tween decks are 7 feet in height, and the ventilation perfect. Her accomodations for saloon passengers are of the first order, and replete with every comfort and convenience. We perceive that the Zealandia is laid on for London, to sail positively in the early part of March, persons proposing to visit England would be afforded a first-rate opportunity by this vessel; and from the high character which her Commander, Captain Foster, bears for kindness and attention to his passengers, many will no doubt prefer waiting for her than taking the route by way of Sydney to Melbourne. |
