Sailed London 16th November 1872 - arrived Wellington 2nd March 1873

The Forfarshire, a fine large well-appointed ship of 1238 tons, made frequent visits too New Zealand and Australia was build in 1867. She did not run continuously to the colony, having only made six voyages from 1873 to 1900. Nothing eventful occured on any of the passages to New Zealand or home. The Forfarshire carried some of the wives and children of the men who were sent out under special arrangment with Messrs Brogden & Sons. The men arrived by the Schiehallion.

PAPPS Joseph:
Joseph Frederick PAPPS was born in Wiltshire in 1848. In November 1872 he emigrated to New Zealand on the Forfarshire, arriving in March 1873. He settled in Richmond, Nelson and married Selina Timms in 1874. After his wife's death in 1892 he married Bertha Win.
