Launched in 1855, the 547 ton barque Harvest Home was one of the most consistent of the colonial sailers. Under charter to the New Zealand Shipping Co. she began her first voyage to Port Chalmers from Liverpool on September 17th 1868 Having traded to other ports for thirteen years before commencing the New Zealand run, Harvest Home made three voyages to Port Chalmers (arriving 1868, 1870 and 1871) and one each to Lyttelton (1871) and Nelson (1873).
