Know Ye, That We, for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty Shillings for
every hundred acres hereby granted, paid into our Treasury by William TAYLOR
have given granted, and by these Presents do give and grant to the said
William TAYLOR a tract of Land, containing Two Hundred and eighteen acres,
lying and being in our County of Dobbs On the Beverdam between Tuckahoe creek
and Trent River Beginning at a red oak in or near John COARTS line runs with
the same North thirty three West twenty six poles to his or near a pine then
North twenty three East forty poles to a pine in or near HARPER'S LINE THEN
WITH THE SAME North ---- five West one hundred and twenty poles center of
three pines then with ----- line South ----- West one hundred and forty poles
to a ---- then South nine West one hundred thirty two poles - pine then South
sixty five East seventy --- poles to a stake then to the Beginning as by the
Plat hereunto annexed --- appear; together with all Woods, Waters, Mines,
Minerals, Hereditaments, and Appurtenances, to the said William TAYLOR his
Heirs and Assigns for ever. ----- and paying to us such Sums of Money yearly,
or otherwise, as our General Assembly from time to tome may direct. ----- Always, That the said William TAYLOR shall cause this Grant to be registered
in the Register's Office of our said County of Dobbs, within Twelve Months
from the Date hereof, otherwise the same shall be void and of none? Effect.

To all people to whom there presents shall come Greeting, Know ye that I
William TAYLOR of the County of Dobbs & State of North Carolina for & in
considertion of the sum of Forty pounds Lawful Money to me in hand paid by
Needham WHITFIELD of the County of Wayne & State of North Carolina. Have
bargained & sold & do by these presents Bargain Sell & make over unto him the
said Needham WHITFIELD his Heirs & Assigns for ever The following missing?
Tracts or parcels of Land containing Two Hundred & fifty four acres more or
less lying & being in the County of Dobbs & State of North Carolina & on the
South side of Trent River Swamp one hundred & two acres of which being part of
a Survey Granted unto the said William TAYLOR for one hundred & fifty acres
bearing date the 10th day of July 1788. Beginning at a Red Oak on a pond si the head of Buck branch & runs S 51 W 48 poles to a white oak thence S 106
poles to a stake then N 76 E 176 poles poles a crop the pattent to a stake in
the fourth line of said pattent thence with said line N 45 poles & from thence
with a direct line to the beginning. Twenty seven acres it being part of a
Survey Granted unto the said William TAYLOR for Four Hundred acres bearing
date the 26th day of November ---
Beginning at a White Oak near William ERVIN'S line the beginning corner of
said Pattent & runs N 54 W 100 poles to a pine thence S 10 W 80 poles to a
stake thence to the beginning and one hundred & twenty five acres in the same
Survey last mentioned Beginning at the fourth corner of the same & runs with
said pattent line N 25 E 110 poles to a White Oake thence N 65 W 100 poles to
a pine thence S 19 W 210 poles to a stake thence a crop the pattent N 76 E 80?
Poles to a stake & from thence to the beginning. To have & to hold the
aforesaid Lands & premises with all the Improvements priveledges Convenances &
advantages to the same belongint or in any wise appertaining unto him the said
Needham WHITFIELD his Heirs & Assigns forever and I the said William TAYLOR bind myself my Heirs Executors & Administrators to Warrant secure & forever
defend the same unto him the said Needham WHITFIELD his Heirs & Assigns
forever against the Lawful Claim or Demands of all persons whatever. In
Witness whereof I the said William TAYLOR have hereunto set my hand and fixed

conditon of this obligation is such that if the above bounden Elizabeth BYRD
shall will and truly perform the orders of the court of pleas and QuarterSessions of said County charged him with the maintanance of a certain bastard
child begotten on the body of Elizabeth BYRD and shall indemnity the said
county free from any and all charges for the maintenance of said child then
the above obligation is to be void otherwise to remain in full force and
effect.

I JOSHUA HERRING of the Province and County aforsaid and in consideration
of sum of 10 pounds proclamation money paid me by HENRY TAYLOR of the same,
Planter, receipt I acknowledge. I have bargained, sold give unto the said
HENRY TAYLOR one parcel of land situated in county of Dobbs on north side
of the Neuse River and east side of Bear Creek 125 acres more or less it
being part of a tract of 232 acres granted to PHILLIP STONE by patent
___June 1764 and being land on which WILLIAM SEARLES hath a ___. JOSHUA
HERRING to said HENRY TAYLOR bounded PHILLIP STONE by virtue of a power of
attorney from said STONE to said HERRING bearing date of 21 Oct. 1772. The
said land bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a pine in said patent
line being a corner of JOSHUA HERRING and with the said patent line S & E
to a stake, the patent corner in or near ISAAC ERVINE line being the patent

a east course across the land I bought of RICHARD BYRD to the back line
then with this line near a south course to corner from thence across a peas
(piece) of land I patented to my corner then with line to corner near
WILLIAM SEARLES line, and with the line near the road my corner and near
the marsh, my corner then across the creek to a flakc (?) in the marsh near
my corner with my line up the marsh to a flakc near lower end of mapedbluff then with a strate course to the beginning containing two hundred
fifty acres more of less together with all and singular the privileges and
appurtenances thereto belonging to her for her proper use..... to occupy,
cultivate without any ...interruption or by reason of any wills or other
things..... acted in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this 6th day of April, 1778.

County of Lenoir, State of NC of one part and SAMUEL HOWARD of same,
witnesseth sd. COBB in consideration of $3,000. To him in hand paid by
SAMUEL HOWARD at or before the executing of these presents the receipt
which is hearby acknowledged, hath given and granted....to sd. HOWARD and
his heirs and assigns a certain tract to land in Lenoir on S. side of Neuse
River and N. side of Southwest Creek and bounded as follows. Beginning on
SW Creek at a point where a corner running north____ was a half east_____
from MOSES TILGHAMS second corner Mill Stake. The Creek running thence N &
W to MOSES TILGHAMS second corner and with his patent lines, to Neuse River
then along River channel to JOHN JACKSON'S line then with sd line SE to JACKSON'S corner then SW to the main road near a small pond bridge thence
to the beginning containing 500 acres more or less with all privileges and
appurtenances to have and to hold to said HOWARD'S his heirs and assigns
forever. The sd. RICHARD G. COBB for himself and his heirs do covenant and
grant land unto said HOWARD and forever defend said land against the lawful
claims of any and all persons.

3 children - SERINA, SALLY a year or two old last July (never names the
3rd child) - the lived together 4 or 5 years in harmony - lived at JOHN
WILLIAMS - (1817 - 1818) neighborhood - talk of her infidelity at that
time - intimate with JOHN WILLIAMS - 2 or 3 years afterward living at
HARROW until ??? of LEWIS BRYAN - she was intimate with JAMES WADE and
JOHN TILLMANIN in 1817 or 18 - would have separated but the children
were small - left HARROW March 1824 or 5 - she refused to move with him -
she got a place at MAJOR CROOMS and lived there about a year and then lived
at EDWIN TAYLORS - has had a child since - husband had no intercourse with
her during this time - she never returned - never exchanged a word in 4 years
