Mrs. Ruth E. (Mowry) Pagel, Passed away Monday, October 12, 1998 at her residence. Mrs. Pagel was married to Melvin F. Pagel on February 23, 1952 in Florida. He survives her. She also leaves a daughter, Alexis E. (Cooky) and Hugh J. Coupar; six grandchildren, Kevin M. and Jeffrey S. Rooker, Cynthia A. and Todd D. O'Connor, Kerry L. and Toni Kern, Keith R. Kern, Holly R. and Daniel Reinke; also one sister, Dorothy and William Silkstone; one brother, John J. and Mildred Mowry; one son-in-law, Donald J. Rooker. Ruth retired from Second National Bank-Mortgage Dept. following 30 years of service. Ruth was predeceased by one daughter, Jacqueline Rooker Carmein; one grandson, Kyle M.F. Kern; one great-grandson, Kerry L. (KJ) Kern, Jr. Funeral service has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Avenue Baptist Church or VNA Hospice-Partners in Caring. Michael M. "Chubs" Pagel of Racine -- Michael M. "Chubs" Pagel, 8, passed away at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee on Tues., May 5, 1998. Michael was born in Kenosha on Feb. 11, 1990. He was a former student at Wadewitz School in Racine and Parkway Christian Academy in Oak Creek. Michael is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Cynthia (nee Wiltschka) Pagel; sister and brother-in-law, MaryRose (Matt) Butler of Oak Creek, brother, Jeffrey Paul Pagel; sisters, SarahRose Pagel and GabrielleRose Pagel all of Racine; aunts and uncles, Laura and Darin Monfrey, Elaine and Mike McMullen, Anne and Neil Ciraicks, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Special thanks to Dr. Splaingard, Dr. DeGuzman and Dr. Aiken; two angels of mercy, Ron and Amanda; and special teachers include Sister Julia, Kathleen and Lori Sue. Memorial services for Michael will be held at Parkway Apostolic Church, 10940 S. Nicholson Rd., Oak Creek, on Friday, May 8, 1998 at 2 PM with Rev. Anthony Tamel officiating. Helen Alvina Pagel, 84, of Lonsdale died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at her home in Lonsdale.  Pagel was born Nov. 1, 1913, in Bluff Siding, Wis.

She married Cecil Pagel on July 6, 1937, at St. Michaels Church in St. Paul. A homemaker, Pagel lived in Lonsdale for more than 30 years and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Mary (and Jack) Adamek of Lakeville, Margaret (and Clarence) Trnka, Kathy (and Leonard) McFadden and Lois (and Raymond) Tuma, all of Lonsdale, and Ruth (and Kevin) Douglas of Aurora, Calif.; a son, Jim (and Pat) Pagel of Lonsdale; and 16 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son.

Services were held Saturday, June 20, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale, Father Michael Sauber officiating. Pallbearers were John Adamek Jr., Bradley Trnka, Kenneth McFadden, David Tuma, Devin Douglas, Rod Carlson and Dick Geibe. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights. Gwen E. Pagel, 70, of 101 N.E. 46th Place died of complications of cancer Tuesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Aurora.

Born in Lamont, she had lived in Oelwein before moving to Des Moines in 1963. She had been an art teacher and a member of American Quarter Horse Association and the Des Moines, Iowa and National education associations.

Survivors include three sisters, Dora Lee Nus of Arlington; Iva Bachtell of Waterloo and Flossie Streicher of Strawberry Point.

Erwin John Pagels, of Birch Run, Michigan, passed away Saturday, December 27, 1997, at Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth. Age 90 years. He was born December 20, 1907 in Birch Run. He was married to Mildred Laegler on April 6, 1940. She survives him. He had been employed as a farmer, retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth, a member of St. John's Men's Club and Christ Lutheran Men's Club, Frankenmuth Conservation Club and Birch Run Senior Citizens.

Surviving are his wife Millie, two sons, three daughters and their spouses, Bonnie Grim, Birch Run; John (Barbara) Pagels, Richmond, VA; Joyce (Tim) Baird, Erie, PA; Mary Lou (Jim) Moore, Austin, Texas; Michael (Kim) Pagels, Richmond, VA; ten grandchildren; Russell (Sue) Grim, Alisa and John Pagels, Tobin, Ty and Trisha Baird; Amanda Moore; Becca, Robby and Anna Pagels; three great-grandchildren, Brianne, Matthew and Adam Grim; a brother, Wallace (Frieda) Pagels of Oscoda; sisters-in-law, Lorine Pagels of Birch Run and Helen Pagels of Florida; a brother-in-law, Victor Story of Florida. He was preceded in death by grandson Brian Grim, daughter-in-law Patti Pagels, brothers Norman and Lawrence Pagels, sisters Elsie (Alfred) Matzke and Frieda Story.

Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. Rev. Joel Ehlert and Vicar, David Shilling will officiate with burial in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Krauss-Torhan Funeral Home, Birch Run from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 p.m. on Monday and at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Roberta Annette (Wurst) Pagel, Age 74, of Byron, died Thursday, October 22, 1998 at Crestmont Nursing Care Facility. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 1998 at Hope Lutheran Church, 7365 Silver Lake Rd., Linden, Pastor Lawrence Eckart officiating. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd. from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation.

Mrs. Pagel was born September 26, 1924 in Detroit, the daughter of Walter and Alvine (Hansen) Wurst. She had resided in Byron the past 5 years, coming from South Lyon. She married Fredrick L. Pagel September 19, 1944 in Detroit. She was a past Girl Scout and Brownie Leader. She was an avid gardener and very active in garden clubs in the Farmington and South Lyon areas. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and a past member of First Methodist Church of South Lyon, where she served on the New Building Committee.

Surviving are: husband, Fred; daughter, Kathryn and husband Nelson Scott of Byron; 2 sons, Thomas and wife Tempa of Massachusetts, Tim and wife Linda of Royal Oak; 10 grandchildren; 1 niece and 1 nephew. Gerald Pagel, 77, of Indianola died of leukemia Monday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Overton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Indianola IOOF Cemetery. Mr. Pagel was born in Story City and lived in Indianola most of his life. He retired after 40 years as a truck driver for Howard Lester Trucking Co. and had served in the National Guard. Among survivors are his wife, Edith; three sons, Robert of Madrid and Dennis and Gaylord, both of Carlisle; three daughters, Barbara Chitwood of Nelson, Mo., and Janet Broker and Linda Bartlett, both of Des Moines; a brother, Gaylord of Florence, Ore.; two sisters, Irene Norris of Allerton and Patricia Day of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Maurice Randolph Pagel, 73, former owner of Pagel's Grocery, died Wednesday at a Muenster hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements: McCoy Funeral Home. Mr. Pagel was born in Muenster. He was a World War II veteran. Survivors: Four daughters, Glenda Russell, Sharlene Hartman, Marlene Enderes and Judy Pagel, all of Muenster; four sons, Dwayne Pagel, Troy Pagel, Jacob Pagel and Chris Pagel, all of Muenster; two sisters, Dell Flack and Marcella Janicki, both of San Antonio; brother, Jerome Pagel of Muenster; and 11 grandchildren.
