Our Hamilton genealogy begins with Earl Archibald Hamilton who was born in Fife, Scotland in 1625, he married Lady Agnes Brown also of Scotland in 1650
In 1651, Archibald and Agnes welcomed there first child, son Andrew Hamilton

Earl Archibald & Lady Agnes Brown Hamilton
The journey begins in 1769 in Scotland when John Hamilton and his wife Agnes Nancy Raeburn took there two young children, Thomas and Janet, and set sail to the New World from Campbelltown, Scotland. The trip probably took about three months and had to be so hard on everyone, but more so on Nancy who was pregnant with her third child
and our first American born Hamilton, and gave birth to John Hamilton, while still at sea, 30 miles off the New York coast.The family first settled in Northumberland, Pennsylvania from the year's 1770 to 1775.
John Hamilton moved his family in 1775 to Washington County, Westmoreland , Pennsylvania,and to the Hamilton Plantation where for many generation's to follow, this would be the Hamilton home and still is.
According to the Pennsylvania State Archives, the father John Hamilton served as a private in the Pennsylvania Regiment Continental Line, in Westmoreland County in the years, 1776,1777.
The son John Hamilton served in the reconstruction period of the American Revolution, he became a Major in the War of 1812.
