"John Hamilton", just the mention of the name brings up many different "Hamilton" lines that moved in and around Washington County in Westmoreland, PA in the late 1700's and 1800's.It also does not help that the Hamilton's had similar naming pattern's, and children born with in the same time frame. I hope to at least clear up my line.
John Hamilton was born on December 20,1741 in the parish of Comnock, County of Ayl, Scotland to his father, John Hamilton and mother Sarah Dalzell.John grew up in Scotland and in 1765 he married Nancy Agnes Raeburn. John and Nancy Agnes had two children born in Scotland Janet Hamilton born in 1766 and brother Thomas Hamilton born in 1768.

In 1769 Squire John Hamilton , as he was known, and Nancy Agnes along with Janet and Thomas booked passege from Scotland to America. Nancy Agnes was pregnant with her third child whom she gave birth to while still at sea, John Hamilton born in 1770.
The Hamilton family first settled in Northumberland, PA from 1770 until 1775 when Squire Hamilton was issued a land patent for what became known as the Hamilton plantation, located in Westmoreland County. Squire Hamilton owned 300 acres, which over time he divided.
Both Squire Hamilton and Nancy Agnes Hamilton are both buried in Poke Run Cemetery, Westmoreland County, PA
