John DONALDSON, my Great great grandfather was born in Perthshire, Scotland. He relocated to Upper Canada in the early 1820,s with his father and three siblings. (James, Jane and Catherine). Sometime shortly thereafter, following the death of his father, John, along with brother James moved to the area that was to become Allen Township, Washington Co. Pa. The exact dates are unknown as to when they moved, but it is known that he worked the farm of an Uncle (William) and after William died, he purchased the farm from his first Cousins (Alexander C. and William D. Donaldson) in 1841. The following is an outline of his descendants, most of whom, stayed in or near the Allen Township area.
