STOCKDALE in the WORLD WAR

ASTLE,  FRED.  Born June 27. 1886,  Son of Thomas and Eliza Astle of Bow St..
Stockdale, Pa . Entered service May 28, 1918.  Assigned to Camp Humphreys and
Woodbridge, Pa. Attached to Co. F. 28th Engineers.  Embarked for overseas Aug.27.
1918. Returned July 5, 1919. With 28th Engineers in all engagements during the war,
Received Regimental Citations for bravery.  Honorably discharged July 10. 1919, with
rank of Corporal.

ASTLE,  WALTER.  Born May 29. l893.  Son of Thomas and Eliza Astle of Bow St.
Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service May 28. 1918.  Assigned to Camp Humphreys and
Woodbridge, Pa.  Attached to Co. E. 28th Engineers.  Embarked for overseas July 31,
1918, returned July 5,1919. With 28th Engineers in all engagements overseas  Honorably
discharged July 10, 1919, with rank of Sergeant.

BOBSHOCK, GEORGE,  Born Oct. 30. 1897,  Son of Charles and Mary Bobshock of
Stockdale. Pa,  Entered service Sept. 5. 1918,  Assigned to camp Greenleaf and Fort
Oglethorpe Attached to Medical Dept. Embarked overseas in Oct. 1918.  Returned May
5, 1919.  Saw service at Meuse-Argonne.  With Army of Occupation in Germany.
Honorably discharged in May. 1919.

BRONSON.  GEORGE B., Akron, Ohio,  Born Dec. 26, 1893.  Son of John E. and Josie
Bronson of Bow St.. Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service Sept. 24, 1917.  Assigned to Camps
Sherman, Merritt and Perry. Attached to Co. E. 332nd Infantry 83rd Division, embarked
for overseas June 8. 1918. Returned April 15, 1919.  With 332nd Infantry in all
engagements overseas, serving in France and Italy.  Received Regimental and Divisional
Citations for bravery.  Honorably discharged May 2, 1919. with rank of Sergeant.

BRYDEN. FRED H, Born Aug.31, 1896.  Son of William J. and Mayme Bryden of Bow
St., Stockdale. Pa, Entered service Nov. 7, 1917.  Assigned to Camp Hancock.
Attached to  Co. A, 110th Infantry, 28th Division. Embarked for overseas May 3. 1918,
returned Jan. 29. 1919,  Saw service at Chateau Thierry, Aisne and Argonne. Wounded
and severely gassed Sept.27, 1918.  In hospital five months from effects of same,
Received Regimental and Divisional Citations for bravery. Honorably discharged in Dec.
1918 with rank of Runner.

BRYDEN. WILLIAM E, East Gulf. W. Va, Born Oct.19, 1893.  Son of William and
Mayme Bryden of Bow St., Stockdale, Pa,  Entered service June 28, 1918.  Assigned to
Camp Lee and Newport News.  Attached to 114th Infantry.  Embarked for overseas in
Nov. 1918. returned on account of Armistice being signed. Honorably discharged Dec.
1919.

DeSHIELDS, JAS.  Born Dec. 8, 1897.  Son of Jas. D. and Louise DeShields of Main
St., Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service Aug. 28, 1918.   Assigned to Camp Lee.   Attached
to Troop H, 6th Cavalry. Embarked for overseas in Oct. 1918.  Returned July 4, 1919.
Honorably discharged July 3. 1919.

DeSHIELDS, WALTER C.  Born Dec. 5, 1896.  Son of Jas. and Louise DeShields of
Main St.,. Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service Sept. 21, 1917.  Assigned to Camps Sherman
and Forrest. Attached to Co. B,  5th Ammunition Train, 5th Division.  Embarked for
overseas April 24, 1918.  Returned July 21, 1919.  Saw service at St. Mihiel and in
Verdun Sector.   Slightly gassed in action.  With Army of Occupation in Germany.
Honorably discharged July 26, 1919.

DRODER, PAUL,  Akron,  Ohio.  Born Feb. 28, 1896.  Son of John and Susanna Droder
of Bow St., Stockdale, Pa.   Entered service Oct. 21, 1917.  Assigned to Camps
Sherman, Pike, Greene, and Mills.   Attached to Co. K. 47th Infantry, 4th Division.
Embarked for overseas May 9,1918.  Returned Aug. 2, 1919.  Saw service at Chateau
Thierry and St. Thibaut.  Wounded and gassed in action.  In hospital four months from
effects of same. Received Regimental and Divisional Citations for bravery.  With Army of
Occupation in Germany.  Honorably discharged in July 1919,  with rank of Corporal.

ERMLICH,  ADOLPH  G.,   Born April, 1892.  Son of Gustaf and Anna Ermuch of
Main St. Stockdale. Pa.  Entered service Oct. 6, 1917.  Assigned to Camps Sherman and
Pike. Attached to Co. C, 336th Machine Gun Battalion.  Embarked for overseas in July
1918. returned Mar. 29, 1919.  On special duty work overseas.  Honorably discharged
Mar. 22, 1919.

ERMLICK. WILLIAM F., R. R. St.. Stockdale, Pa.  Born Sept. 24, 1888.  Son of
Herman and Emma Ermlick of Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service May 28, 1918.  Assigned
to Camp Humphreys.  Attached to 12th Engineers. Honorably discharged Jan. 23, 1919
with rank of Mess Sergeant.

HALEY, CLEO V., Bow St.. Stockdale, Pa.  Born June 7, 1897.  Son of Charles and
Nellie Haley of Springfied, Ohio.  Entered service Sept. 4, 1918.  Assigned to Camps
Forrest and Sherman.  Attached to Casual Co., 10th Infantry, 158th Depot Brigade.
Honorably discharged Dec. 21,1918.

HILL, MARDIS M., still in Hospital.  Born April 14, 1896.  Son of John M. and
Gertrude S. Hill of Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service April 5, 1918. Assigned to Camp Lee.
Attached to Co. A. Infantry, 80th Division.  Embarked for overseas in May 1918,
returned with 80th Division. Saw service at St. Mihiel and Argonne. Badly shell-shocked
during action. Honorably discharged Sept. 15. 1919.

LOGAN, HOWARD C.,  Born Mar. 29, 1897.  Son of Robert and Margaret Logan of
Hickory and Bow St.., Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service May 28, 1918.  Assigned to Camp
Hum9hrcys. Attached to Co. C. 540th Engineers.  Embarked for overseas in Oct. 1918,
returned June 13. 1919. Honorably discharged in June 1919, with rank of Mess Sergeant.

LYTLE. WILLIAM S., Box 113, Stockdale, Pa.  Born May 5, 1898. Son of Mrs. Allie
Nickdemens of California, Pa.   Entered service June 1, 1918 in U. S. Navy.  Assigned
to Norfolk, Hampton Roads and Newport News. Attached to U. S. S. Dakota.  Made one
trip overseas.  Honorably discharged in Jan. 1919, with rank of Seaman.

MAXON, ROBERT J., Main St., Stockdale, Pa.   Born July 24. 1892.  Son of Mr. David
Maxon of Elco, Pa.  Entered service April 1, 1918.  Assigned to Camp Lee. Attached to
Co. E, 320th Infantry, 80th Division.  Embarked for overseas in May 1918. returned in
April 1919. Saw service at St. Mihiel and Argonne. Wounded by shrapnel Aug. 4, 1918,
in hospital several months from effects of same. Honorably discharged April 9. 1919.

ORAS, JAMES. Akron, Ohio. Born July 26, 1892.  Son of Mrs. Susan Oras of Bow St.,
Stockdale, Pa. Entered service in 1918.  Assigned to Camp Sherman.  Attached to
Infantry.

ORAS, JULIUS S.  Born Sept. 23, 1895.  Son of Mrs. Susan Oris of Bow St.,
Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service Sept. 13,  1917.  Assigned to Fort Slocum and Camp
Greenleaf, Attached to 20th Ambulance Co.. 6th Division Infantry and Medical Dept.
Honorably discharged Dec. 6. 1918, with rank of First-class Private.

PASCOE, THOMAS. Born April. 27, 1888.  Son of Jas. W. and Belle Pascoe, of Main
St., Stockdale, Pa. Entered service April 26, 1918.  Assigned to Camps Sherman and
Mills. Attached to 308th Ammunition Train. Embarked for overseas in June 1918.
Returned in May 1919.  With 308th Engineers in all assignments overseas. With Army of
Occupation in Germany.  Honorably discharged May 16, 1919. with rank of Wagoner.

SMITH, WILLIAM B., Stockdale, Pa.  Born Aug. 29, 1897.  Son of Thomas H. and
Mary D. Smith, Railroad St., Stockdale, Pa. Entered service May 10, 1917. Assigned to
Columbus Barracks, Fort Bliss, Texas. Attached to Battery E, 18th Field Artillery.
Embarked for overseas April 2, 1918. Returned Aug. 18,1919. Saw service at Vesle
Sector, Aisne Marne Offensive, St. Mihiel Offensive and Meuse-Argonne Offensive and
served in Army of Occupation.  Honorably discharged Aug. 22, 1919. Held rank of
Sergeant.

TIMLIN,  JOHN P.  Born Nov. 7, 1897.  Son of Mr. Mike Timlin of Bow St.,
Stockdale, Pa. Entered service in Sept, 1918. Assigned to Camp Jessup.  Attached to
Medical Dept.
Honorably discharged in April 1919.

TIMLIN, THOMAS W.  Born Dec. 2, 1895.  Son of Mr. Mike Timlin of Bow St.,
Stockdale. Pa. Entered service in May 1918. Assigned to Camps Humphreys and
Devons.  Attached to Co. A, 12th Engineers.  Honorably discharged in Feb. 1919.

UNDERWOOD, ELMER, Stockdale, Pa.   Born May 11, 1894.  Son of Joseph and
Mary Anne Underwood, Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service Dec. 18,1917. Assigned to
Camps Sherman and Mills.  Attached to 13th Machine Gun Battalion 5th Division.
Embarked for overseas Sept. 1, 1918. Returned July 21, 1919. Saw service at
Meuse-Argonne  Offensive  and served in Army of Occupation.  Honoralbly discharged in
Aug. 1919.  Held First-class Private.

UNDERWOOD, MARLTON, Stockdale, Pa.  Born July 8 1889. Son of Joseph and
Mary Anne Underwood, Stockdale, Pa.  Entered service April 29, 1918. Assigned to
Camps Sherman and Mills.  Attached to Co. H, 16th Infantry, 1st Division.  Embarked
for overseas May 29, 1918.  Returned May 29, 1919. With 16th Infantry in all
engagements until gassed in St. Mihiel Offensive.  Honorably discharged in May 1919.
