CORKER LINE - FIRST GENERATION

JOHN CORKER

Died: aft 1657 possibly Jamestown, VA

1. Capt. William Corker b. abt 1630 (see below)


Note: John was first at Jamestown VA and was a Burgess in 1633, 1643, 1644/5, and 1645 to 1652. A Burgess was a member of the lower house of the legislature of colonial Virginia. From 1645 to 1653 he was also Clerk of the House. On 10 Feb 1636/37, he patented 6 acres in Surry on the south side of James River and the head of Gray's Creek at Ware Neck.



CORKER LINE - SECOND GENERATION

CAPT. WILLIAM CORKER

Born: abt 1630 possible Jamestown, VA
Died: aft Feb 26, 1675/6

Parents: John Corker -

Married 1st: 1649/50 to Susanna (Blackmore) Robinson, dau of Arthur Blackmore and Susanna Burnet. She was widow of Humphrey Robinson.

Married 2nd: Lucy White (our connection), the dau of Capt John White and ____.

Children by Susanna:

1 Susanna Corker b. abt 1651, d. after 1688, m. George Branch, jr. of Surry.


Children by Lucy White:

2. Judith Corker b. abt 1653, d. before 1688, m. William Clay. They had daughter, Elizabeth who m. ____ Parsons bef 1688. ( Unsure if this Judith is 1st or 2nd wifes issue.)

3. LUCY CORKER b. 1655 (see below)


Note: Capt. William Corker was Burgess from Surry Side from James City in 1655/56 and was Captain of the Militia. On 10 Jun 1654 he purchased 150 acres in Surry. There is in Surry the nuncupative will of Capt. William Corker "made at the house of his daughter, Judith Clay in ye Isle of Wright Co." Feb 26, 1675/6



CORKER LINE - THIRD GENERATION

LUCY CORKER

Born: abt 1655, VA
Died: after 1688

Parents: Capt. William Corker - Lucy White

Married: Thomas Jordan in VA. He was b. 1600 in England

We descend through their daugher, Margaret Jordan. See the Jordan line for children and descendants.

In Virginia Magazine of History & Biography, Vol 58, pg 242, will of Capt. William Corker says "Daughter, Mary was wife of Thomas Jordan, but it is believed this was a misprint and her name was Lucy. i.e. in William & Mary Quarterly Vol7, p 232, mentions deed in 1688 of Lucy Jordan, wife of Thomas Jordan mentioning the above sisters, Susanna Branch and Judith Clay, dec'ed.
