THE FULWATER LINE FULWATER LINE - FIRST GENERATION HENRY FULWATER Born: Germany Died: Burial: 21 Sep 1603 St. Anne, Blackfriars, London, England Note: Henry was a Protestant who came from the Continent to England about the time of the first great wave of Huguenot migration to England. This took place in 1567 when the Duke d'Alva entered the Netherlands with 10,000 veteran soldiers and the trading people withdrew from the provinces in such vast numbers that the Duchess of Parma wrote to Philip II of Spain that in a few days about 10,000 men had left the country with thier money and goods and that more were following every day. He was first recorded in England in 1567 and he had probably come from Liege in Flanders. He was described as "High Almayne" or high German, meaning that he was of a south German family. Fulwater is a name that has not been found on the Continent and may be an assumed name or and Angliization. Henry probably completed his apprenticeship about 1571 with the London Company of Cutlers. He hathe a Scottish man, his servant, of Thenglishe Churche. He hath two children, English borne. Denison XI Yeares."
