MERCER LINE - FIRST GENERATION

2. Daniel Mercer m. Sarah Hublon. He was a dier (dyer ?), of St. Olave, Southwark, Surrey Eng. His will was proved 6 Sep 1650. Sarah was m. 1st to: _____, as Daniel's will stated...."as she or her former husband did owe." His will also states his wife is expecting another child. Three are named, but according to his brother Paul's will, Daniel had four, so last child (unkn name) was born after Daniel's death. Daniel was father of Daniel; Elizabeth; Benjamin, and (unkn last child).

3. Francis Mercer m. 1st Unkn, then m. 2nd Katherine _____. He was a clerk, rector of Godmanston, Dorset Eng. His will proved 31 Jan 1668. Katherine was m. 1st to ____ Browne and had son, Capt. Robt. Brown Esq. Francis was father of:

a. John Mercer d. will proved 23 Mar 1663, (died bef his father). He was from London, a mariner, bound on a voyage to Bantom in the East Indies on vessel "Constantinople Marchant." In his will, he mentions brother Capt. Robt. Brown, son of his mother by 1st marriage.

b. Ann Mercer m. Josuah Mead. I think Ann also died bef her father, as she was not listed in his will, but was listed in her brother, John's will as sister. Ann and Josuah had: Ann Mead.

c. Peter Mercer m. ____

d. Jane Mercer m. Edward Furber

e. Esther Mercer m. John Willis. (She was called Hester in Uncle Paul's will, but called Esther in her fathers will.) f. Francis Mercer m. Abigail ____. He was of the City of Sarum, Wilts, Eng. and was an ironmonger.

9. (Female) Mercer m. _____Strowde. This is not the above Elizabeth who m. ____ Stroud. Both women are lised in Daniel Mercer's will....."my sister Blanchard, my sister Strowde..." This will was written in 1650, so perhaps this sister died early, as not mentioned in later wills.

10. Hester Mercer m. Nathaniel Bachiler, son of Rev. Stephen Bachiler. He was b. abt 1589. (I connect with this line through Rev. Stephen Bachiler's daugher, Theodate.) Daniel Du Cornet of Middleburge, Holland bef 1661; (3) Francis b. abt 1628; (4)Nathaniel b. 1630 d. 19 Jan 1709/10; and (5) Benjamin b. abt 1632.

MERCER LINE - SECOND GENERATION

PETER MERCER

Born:
Died:

Parents: ____ Mercer

Married:

Note: For some reason, all the brother's wills regarding Peter as follows: Daniel said: "To my brother Peter Mercer three score pounds, to be paid unto him by my brother Paul Mercer as he shall see occasion and in his discretion think fit, not otherwise." Paul said: " To my brother Peter Mercer, during his natural life, a yearly pension of forty pounds, providing that the legacy given him by the last will of our deceased brother Daniel Mercer shall remain properly for my own use as my own and proper goods." Francis said: "My will and desire is that the annuity of forty pounds per annum which was bequeathed to Peter Mercer, my brother, by the last will of Paul Mercer, my later brother, to be paid unto him by 10 pounds quarterly during his natural life..."

For some reason, Peter's inheritances were not given to him directly, as others received them. Peter out-lived brothers Daniel, Paul and Francis. Francis d. 1668. It is unkn who Peter wed.

His children:

1. Hester Mercer (his only daughter, according to her Uncle Paul's will). She m. Thomas Cary on 12 May 1660.
