Thomas Scudder brought his family with him to Salem in 1635 from Kent England. Elizabeth is named in the Salem Church List of 1640. She d. in 1666. Children: 1. Kent, England Died: 1686 Parents: Thomas Scudder - Elizabeth Somers Married: Mary King in 1642 probably in Salem, MA He received a grant of land in Salem, MA in 1642 and same year he wed Mary king. She was b. 1623, the dau of William King and Dorothy Hayne. John and Mary's names appear on the Salem Church List in 1647. They were in Southold in 1651, Huntington in 1657, and Newtown in 1660. It is known that John and Mary were still living in Newtown Dec 1680, as they were mentioned in the town minutes. Children: 1. Samuel Scudder b.____, m. Phebe Titus. She was dau of Edmund Titus (b. 1630 d. 1715) and Martha Washborne (b. 1638 d. 1727.) Phebe was one of eleven children. Samuel Scudder d. Jan 1689 and widow Phebe wed 2nd on 24 Feb 1690 to Robert Field of Newtown, who d. 13 Apr 1701. 2. John Scudder b. 1645, at Salem, MA m. Joanna, daughter of Capt. Richard Betts in 1669. 3.
