Darr to Ambrose Lease

This Indenture made the seventeenth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and seventy two Between George Darr of the county of Frederick and province of Maryland of the one part and Henry Ambrosse of the County of Berkeley and Colony of Virginia yeoman of the other Part whereforth that the said George Darr for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Henry Ambrosse at or before the sealing & Delivery of these Presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath granted bargained & sold and by these presents Doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Henry Ambrose a Certain Tract of land Containing four Hundred Acres situate lying and being on sleepy Creek in the county aforesaid distinguished and known by the name of Number Nineteen. Beginning at an ash and a [plum?] standing on the East of said Creek near the fords of the same Extending up the said Creek South Thirty five degrees west forty Poles to the south fork of the said Creek passed the south fork and extending up the North; South seven West thirty poles thence south fifty eight east twenty two Poles thence south fifty six west forty Poles thence south forty one west thirty two poles crossing the north fork of the said Creek the course continued thirty four Poles thence South two West thirty two Poles to a large white oak standing on the edge of High Hill thence into the woods South Fifty five East three hundred and Twenty poles crossing the North fork and South fork to a pine on the top of a round hill thence North Twenty six East Two Hundred pole to a red oak thence North Fifty five West three hundred and Twenty Poles to the place of beginning containing five hundred acres of Land and all houses buildings orchards ways waters water courses profits Commodities Hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever to the said Premises hereby granted or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and Profits thereof to have & to hold the said four hundred acres of land and all and Singular other the premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said Henry Ambrose his Execs adms and assigns from the day before the date hereof for and during the full Term and Time of one whole year from thence next ensuing fully to the complete and ended yielding and paying therefore the rent of one pepper corn on lady Day next if the same shall be lawfully demanded to the intent and purpose that by notice of these presents and of the statute for Transfering uses into possession the said Henry Ambrose may be in actual possession of the premises the ___ enabled to accept and take a grant and release of the reversion and inheritance thereof to him and his heirs for witness whereof the said George Darr hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day of year first above written
