This is a tribute to my Daddy Edward Pastuszynski. He was an honest,
hardworking,honourable man who didn't know the meaning of the
words "give up or quit". He opened doors for ladies, had a great
smile that could melt an iceberg but you really didn't want to be around
if he got mad! Lucky for most folks, it took an awful lot to
tick him off.
He did enjoy the "drink a bit too much" by the time I was old enough to
notice. But he kept a steady job working as a skilled craftsman
(carpenter). He loved fishing, hunting and a good party. More than
anything else, he loved my mom and me.
His parents immigrated to America around 1904 from Poland. They settled
in Buffalo, New York aned raised a large family. The boys worked in a
made their own clothing. They were all devout Roman Catholics.
He served 20 years in the United States Army and retired as a Major
at Ft Benning in 1956. He was overseas during the entire WWII. Some of
his awards include: Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Purple Heart.
He married Ida Eugene Arrington on May 30, 1949 in Columbus, GA. I was
born March 21, 1954 at Ft Campbell, KY. My son was born April 17. 1982
at Ft Benning, Ga. No little boy could have had a Grandpa who loved him
any more than my Dad did.
He died May 4, 1993 at home in his own bed. He lived a good life
and enjoyed it to its fullest in every way he could.
