Caldera, Betty Brenda Brown

Dinuba, California - Betty Brenda Brown Caldera, 59, completed her earthly journey September 15, 1999, in Alta Vista Hospital.
She was born August 4, 1940, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and attended school at Mountain Pine. She was predeceased by both parents, Butler and Mary Ellen Brown; one sister, Vinnie Brown; and two brothers, Clarence Brown and William Brown.
Survivors include three brothers, J. R. Brown of Hot Springs, David Brown of Mabelvale and Frank Brown of Dover; four sisters, Marie Kovaleski of Morrow, Georgia, Mary Burris of Carthage, Mississippi, Joann Miller of Germantown, Tennessee, and Mildred Terry of Visalia, California.
Her final resting place will be with her mother and father in Scott Cemetery, Saturday, October 9, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Curtis Stillwell officiating. [from the Sentinel-Record]

Caldwell, Dora Moore

Bryant--Mrs. Dora Caldwell, 88, died Friday at Bryant. She was a former resident of Garland County. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harriett Harris of Bryant; 3 sons, W. F. Caldwell, Fletcher William

Fletcher William Caldwell, 72, died June 27 in a local hospital. He was a retired carpenter and businessman, former owner of Caldwell Hardware, a World War II veteran and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Caldwell of Hot Springs; a son, Kenneth Caldwell of Hot Springs; two stepsons, Johnny Holder of Hot Springs, and Calvin Moore of El Paso, Texas; a stepdaughter, Shirley Cantrell of Benton; 2 brothers, W. C. Caldwell of Bryant, J. D. Caldwell of Benton; a sister, Harriett Harris of Bryant; 2 granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Caruth Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Dale Johnson officiating. Pallbearers are Walter G. Garland Caldwell, Jr.
The Death Angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Caldwell, September 6 at claimed from us our darling son. Garland was about eight hours of age. He is survived by his mother, father and one sister, Ophelia and a host of relatives. He was laid to rest in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Joe B. Sullivan of Bauxite. We wish to thank him and our many friends for the kind words of sympathy. Our darling baby is now at rest in the arms of Jesus--Family. Garland H. Caldwell of Benton, aged 80, died Saturday. He was a retired dragline operator and a Baptist. He is survived by one son, Benny Caldwell of Alexander; one daughter, Opelia Meredith of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one stepdaughter, Wanda Ragazzini of Hollywood, Florida, one brother, Joe M. Caldwell, Hilda Dyer

Hilda Dyer Caldwell of Benton died Wednesday, November 18, 1998. She was 85. She was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church and a 1934 graduate of Benton High School. She was a licensed cosmetologist and a hotel manager while living in Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Caldwell; her parents, Jetty Walter and Hattie James Dyer; and one brother, Bert Dyer. Survivors include a sister, Jacqueline Vance of Benton; a sister-in-law, Ruby Cumbie of Harrah, Oklahoma; three nieces, Del Rae Stump of Texas, Brenda Richardson of Benton, and Mary Ann Wiggins of Phoenix, Arizona; and one nephew, Bill Cumbie of Harrah, Oklahoma. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gravel Hill Baptist church with the late Rev. Gary Gipson officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery. James Monroe Caldwell, aged 81, died November 16 in a local hospital. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R. P. Vance, Star Route, Lonsdale; one son, M. G. Caldwell, also of Lonsdale; two grandchildren, Gerald Vance, of Benton, and Willie Vance, of Lonsdale. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2:00 a.m. at the Owensville church by the Rev. O. C. Kenneth Jack Caldwell, 58, of Hot Springs died Saturday, November 4, 1995, at a local hospital. Born January 29, 1937, at Hot Springs, he was a retired hardware store owner and a Mason. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Merritt of Hot Springs and Clara Minyard of Royal; a brother, Calvin Moore of El Paso, Texas; and 5 grandchildren. Caldwell, Mary Ellen Sirratt

Malvern - Mary Ellen Caldwell, 59, of Malvern died Sunday, December 13, 1998, in a Malvern nursing home.
Born March 12, 1939, in Malvern to Olen and Grace Hughes Sirratt, she was a homemaker, volunteer caregiver and member of Taylor's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom Caldwell; a brother, James Sirratt; and a sister, Marilyn Gregory.
Survivors include a son, Terry Caldwell of Hot Springs; a brother, Olen Wayne "Tiny" Sirratt of Las Vegas; three sisters, Ruby Morris Nix and Betty Nix Ross, both of Malvern, and Carolyn Nugent of Las Vegas; and a grandson, Jeremy Pierce.

Mrs. Ollie M. Caldwell, age 73, died Thursday morning in a local hospital. She was a life resident of Garland County and a member of the Baptist Church. Mrs. Rhoda Malinda Caldwell, age 74 years, died Monday, May 19, in a hospital in Hot Springs. She was a citizen of Owensville. Services were at Owensville Baptist Church Tuesday, conducted by Rev. O. C. Robinson. Burial was at Owensville Cemetery. She is survived by her husband J. M. Caldwell, one daughter, Mrs. R. P. Vance of Lonsdale, and one son, M. G. Robert N. Caldwell, aged 76, of Benton died Friday, April 29. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two brothers, Joe Caldwell of Benton and Garland Caldwell of Pennsylvania, and five sisters, Mrs. Zella Dobbs of Little Rock, Mrs. Pearl Hunt of South Carolina, Mrs. J. H. Walter Samuel Caldwell, aged 94, of Bryant (Saline County) died Monday. He was a retired farmer and was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church at Bryant. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dora Moore Caldwell; 3 sons, Fletcher Caldwell of Hot Springs, J. D. Caldwell of Benton and Walter C. Callahan, Carleton

Carleton Callahan, age 67, of Benton died Sunday November 1, 2009, in Little Rock. He was born August 24, 1940, to M. C. (Buck) and Lorene (Westbrook) Callahan. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, infant Jerry and Lynn Callahan, grandparents, Arch and Myrtle Westbrook and Adie and John Callahan.
He is survived by his wife Betty (Crow) Callahan, sons, Michael Callahan and his wife Lisa, of Benton; Brian Callahan, of Tull, daughter, Debra Murray, of Benton; brother, Larry Callahan and his wife Evelyn, of Benton; sister, Sandy Wallace of Garland, Texas; sister-in-law, Frances Callahan, of Benton; grandchildren, Charlsey Callahan, Kaleb Murray, Nick Murray, Matt Callahan, Ty Callahan, and Sarah Callahan.
Services will be Tuesday, 3:00 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Mount Harmony Cemetery. Minister will be Dee Edwards.

Calloway, Fred Meek

Fred Meek Calloway, 76, of Liberty, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Funeral services will be Monday, September 26, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty, Texas with burial to follow in the Cooke Memorial Cemetery in Liberty.
He was born on October 7, 1934, to parents, S.I. and Nannie Kate Calloway in Smackover, Arkansas. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty, Texas, since moving to Liberty in 1967. He served on the Administrative Board and most any other way that was asked of him.
Mr. Calloway worked for Williams Pressure Service in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Latex in Atlanta, Georgia, before moving to Liberty, Texas, to work for Halliburton. He worked in real estate and home building business during the late 1970s with his friend Joe Tullos. He formed Micah Production in the 1980s with the late Billy Mills. He formed Calloway Overhead Door and Gutter Service mid-1980s.
He loved a good baseball game, watching college football, growing pineapples and tomatoes and watching his grandson grow up. He also enjoyed his year as a fast-pitch softball pitcher in Liberty. Over the years he was active in the Liberty Lions and Rotary Clubs. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved a good joke, and was quite the kidder. He never met a stranger. He was a man with a servants heart. He especially loved cooking for others. His specialties included hot rolls, peach cobbler and pies and pralines at Christmas. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Genevieve Dixon Low and Delores Calloway and two brothers, John Calloway and Joe Calloway. He is survived by his wife of 48 years; Shirley Matthews Calloway, daughter; Scottie Tisdel and husband Michael, grandson; Ian Tisdel, brothers; Jerry Calloway and Michael Calloway and many nieces and nephews. Carlson, Helen Marie Holm

Helen M. Carlson, 90, passed away Thursday morning, October 29, 2009, at Midland Hospice. She was born June 2, 1919, on the family farm in Morris County and was the seventh of ten children to Ivar E. and Birttie E. (Harris) Holm.
Helen attended a one room Swartz School and graduated from Dwight High School. She then attended Kansas State University for two years and later graduated from Clark Secretarial School in Topeka. She was a secretary for Congressman Ed Reese in Washington D.C. and later secretary for Sloan – Hamilton Law Firm. She also was employed with the Kansas Inspection Bureau and was a secretary to the Base Commander at Harlengen Air Force Base. She later was secretary for the Insurance Committee of the Kansas House of Representatives.
She married Frank E. Carlson on October 8, 1944, he survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela (Mike) Clutter of Topeka and Nancy Carlson (James Camey) of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Todd Clutter of Overland Park, Kansas, Cory Clutter of Topeka, Kansas, Alexandra Staudt (Steve) of Spring, Texas, Brendan Camey of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Marge Haub of Leawood, Kansas; and two brothers Loren Holm of Dwight, Kansas, and George Holm of Abileen, Kansas.
Helen was an active member and Elder of Trinity Presbyterian Church and for many years was co-chair for American Field Service. She welcomed into her home her AFS daughter Jean Webster Walker (Jim) of Sheffield, England, and for a short time Teresa Valenzuela (Antonio) from Mexico and presently of Los Angeles. Helen was a loving wife and mother and will be missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 2, at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 4:00-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, at the church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Grass Valley, California - Bonnie Carter, 83, of Grass Valley, California, formerly of Malvern, died Sunday, December 4, 2005, at home.
Born January 2, 1922, at Hot Springs to Robert and Eathel Sirratt Hall, she was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Carter; one son, Garvin Carter; three brothers, Rex Hall, Ray Hall and Roy Hall; and one son-in-law, Melvin Hall.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Morris Carter and Edward and Debra Carter, all of Grass Valley; one daughter, Marlyn Hall of Nevada City, California; one daughter-in-law, Diana Ryberg of Grass Valley; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Clark Robertson of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Mark Hall, Carrie Hall, Marlena Hall and Kirk McLaughlin; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Anthia House and Florence Hall, both of Antioch; nieces; nephews; greatnieces; and great-nephews.
The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Atkinson Funeral Home chapel, Malvern, with the Rev. Maxie Haynes officiating.
Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Carter, Morris Robert

Morris Robert Carter, 61, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Antioch, Arkansas.
He was born December 24, 1955, at the Hot Spring County Memorial Hospital to Marvin Carter and Bonnie Hall Carter.
Morris is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Garvin Carter, and his brother-in-law, Melvin Hall.
Morris is survived by his brother, Edward Carter of Grass Valley, California; his sister, Marlyn Hall, a nephew, Mark (Carrie) Hall, his niece, Marlena Hall, his great-niece, Bella Hall and his great-nephew, Carson Hall all of Nevada City, California. He also leaves behind, his sister-in-law, Diana McLaughlin of Grass Valley, California; and another nephew, Kirk McLaughlin of Yuba City, California.
Graveside services will be held at the Upper Antioch Cemetery Saturday, January, 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Dave Cash officiating.

Chadwick, Lona Ella Taylor

Lona E. Taylor Chadwick, 102, of Benton, Arkansas passed away November 30, 2015. She was born December 4, 1912, in Paron, Arkansas, to the late Will and Dora Taylor.
Lona worked for over 30 years as a licensed LPTN at the State Hospital/Benton Service Center. She was a member of Buffalo Jesus Name Church of Paron. Lona enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and reading her Bible.
Lona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph M. Taylor, three sons, Johnny Rex Taylor, Gary James Taylor and an infant son; five sisters; and two brothers.
Leaving to cherish her memories are son, Clifton J. Taylor of Alexander; sister, Dorothy Jones of White Hall, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Rondi McLemore, Jamie Taylor, Christi Schott, Todd Taylor, Tammy Justice, and Kelly Epperson; eleven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who loved Lona and will miss her always.

Chenault, Beulah Maye Dyer

Mrs. Beulah Maye Dyer Chenault, aged 61, of Little Rock, wife of John E. Chenault and a former Saline County resident, died Monday at a Little Rock hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Geyer Springs.
Other survivors include a son, James Chenault of Grand Prairie, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Verda Mae Smith of Dallas and Mrs. Mary Gatlin of Grand Prairie, Texas; two brothers, Charles Dyer and W. J. (Bill) Dyer, both of Benton; two sisters, Miss Sallie Dyer and Mrs. L. R. Lancaster, both of Little Rock; and four grandchildren.

Chenault, Elijah Nelson

E. N. Chenault, aged 84, died Wednesday morning, March 19th, at the home of Riley Waters. He had been ill for more than a week. Mr. Chenault was born January 21, 1868, and was saved at an early age and became a member of the Old Union Baptist church.
He is survived by three children, F. N. Chenault, Mrs. John Waters, and Mrs. Riley Waters, all of whom reside north of Benton. Other survivors include ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ewell Chenault, aged 54, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Benton, died Monday.
He was a Baptist and a veteran of World War II.

Chenault, Margaret Ann Neely Flory

Margaret Ann Neely Flory Chenault died March 24, 2010. She was born in Benton on the Fourth of July to the late Earl and Effie Neely. Margaret was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Benton. She had been a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church from 1975 to 2008. Margaret worked as a Church Secretary for many years and served for the Benton Chamber of Commerce and Deputy Clerk of the Benton Municipal Court. She was a former member of the B & PW Club, serving as recording secretary. A member of the MacDowell Music Club, having served in every office there. Music was such a large part of her life, having been in choirs all of her life, beginning in high school. She was raised in Benton, singing and dancing her way into the hearts of the people. Margaret was a partner in the Food Brokerage business in Little Rock for 13 years, before moving back to Benton. Then her love of church work dominated her life, volunteering her abilities until her death. Her love of the Lord, family and home, along with music and singing throughout her lifetime gave her much joy and contentment. She sang with the Little Rock Chorus of the Sweet Adelines and performed in her quartet, The Grace Notes.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Claude Flory and Hubert F. Chenault; brothers, E. H. Neely, Jr. and Ray Neely. Survivors, sons, Steven Flory and wife, Sharon, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Mark R. Bill Chenault, age 17 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Omar Chenault, was killed in a hunting accident Wednesday, December 10 in Goose [actually Coos] Bay, Oregon. Bill was a student in the Benton school from 1942 to 1948 and a graduate of Mardallfield, Oregon. He was employed by Goose Bay Times as an apprentice printer.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Omar Chenault, two sisters, Marilyn of Benton and Melba of Goose Bay, Oregon, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moore of Benton and Mrs. Joe Chenault and the late Joe Chenault of Lonsdale.

Childs, Millard Lee II

Heaven is plus one master grower and pipeline welder today. His loving, heavenly father reached His arms out from heaven and welcomed His loving servant, Millard Lee Childs II, 86, home on Thursday, April 15, 2010. A lifetime resident of Hot Springs, he passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born March 2, 1924, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Millard and Mabel Childs, he was a member of Jessieville Church of God. He was predeceased by both of his parents, his brother Lehman Childs and his daughter-in-law Judy Childs.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Purity Childs; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Millard III and Patty Childs of Dardanelle; Steve Childs of Bonnerdale, and Jeff and Paula Childs of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren, Nick Childs of Springdale, Richard Childs of Springdale, Michelle Sharp of Russelleville, Melissa White of Hot Springs Village, Willie Childs of St. Paul, Jonathan Childs of Conway and Andrew Childs of Fayetteville; nine great grand-children and one great-great grandchild.
Millard was blessed with a driven work ethic and creative hands. He excelled at many things including growing, gardening, and pipeline welding. These occupations allowed Millard to live his life to its fullest and utilize the talents entrusted to him by His Lord – whether it was cultivating tomatoes and okra in one of his homegrown gardens or welding many an item – including one he was most proud to be a part of creating – "The Anchor Holds" - a welded chain wrapped around a bronze cross anchored in rock which symbolized both the place his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ held in his life and his favorite Bible verses – Romans 8:38-39. Millard was a very giving man and it is said that if we could line up everyone that he helped over his lifetime – whether it was delivering groceries to a person in need or mowing a neighbor's yard – that the line would be extremely long.
Millard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945.
Pallbearers are Millard's grandchildren and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Pastor Billy Sanders, Jessieville Church of God, Dr. Tom Hollis, Sr., and his coffee shop buddies.

She retired from Illinois Tool Works in the early 1980s.
She was a homemaker.
She was a Baptist.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Smith; two sons, Floyd Stanley Smith and Richard Lee Smith; three brothers, Floyd "Bud" Coleman-Murdock, Homer Murdock and Vernie Murdock; three sisters, Anna Bell, Elsie Murdock and Lola Holcomb; and a grandchild. Scott Collins Buried Here
Scott Shell Collins, retired lumberman, and a lifelong resident of Houston died at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28, at the Veterans Hospital, Jackson, Mississippi, following a lingering illness. He was 83.
Funeral services were conducted from the Houston Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, with the Rev. Howard Hathorn, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. The deceased was a Methodist.
Interment was in the Houston Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jesse Cox, Marvin Pearson, Ben Orr, Dwight Griffin, Dick Cox and Franklin Collins.
Mr. Collins was born here January 22, 1890, the son of Benjamin Franklin Collins and Mollie Dulaney Collins. He was a mason and a shriner, and a member of the American Legion for 50 years.
Mr. Collins as a young lad went to work in Houston at the depot station. Later he became bookkeeper at Toomer Lumber Co., and in a few years launched his lumber business in Vardaman. World War I interrupted his business, but after serving in the armed services, he returned to resume his lumber business at Vardaman.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Opal Watkins Collins of Houston, a son, Dr. Rex Collins of Laurel, Mississippi; two sisters, Mrs. R. M. Boyd of Aberdeen and Mrs. J. N. C. Morrat of Aberdeen, and two grandchildren. [from the Times Post dated August 2 1973]

Aubrey Bruce Colvert, 91 of Camden, Arkansas, was born February 15, 1920, in Thornton, Arkansas, and passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Cullendale First Baptist Church. Mr. Colvert retired as a mail carrier from the U. S. Postal Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Rosa Nell Richardson Colvert and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Parthenia Sanders Colvert of Camden, Arkansas; son, Glen E. Colvert and wife, Dotty of North Little Rock Arkansas; daughter, Marilyn Atkinson and husband, Marks of Searcy, Arkansas; brother, Marvin Colvert of Orlando, Florida; sisters, Irma Colvert and Jane Kinney both of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren, Gabby Sherrill and husband, Steven, Chris Colvert, Mason Atkinson and wife, Deanna and Marci Burns, great-grandchildren, Miles, Grant, Alex and Piper, numerous nieces and nephews.

Oma "Sis" Corder, 88, of Russellville died Sunday, August 15, 2004, in a Russellville hospital.
Born March 17, 1916, at Hawes to Jefferson and Burley Lynch Brown, she was a cosmetology instructor and member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, O. S. Corder; one son, Jack Corder; and three brothers, Lewis Brown, Delbert Brown and Thomas "Bud" Brown.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie Beckwith of Hot Springs, Betty and Lynn Wilson of Gonzales, Texas, and Brenda and Ruddy Short of Russellville; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Max Cox, age 52 years, died suddenly at her home on North Hervey early Sunday morning, November 7th.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. W. G. Allison; her husband, Max Cox; one son, J. W. Pollard, of Winston, Ontario; and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Tuesday morning at the First Methodist Church with Rev. J. E. Cooper in charge. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Cox, Dorothy Jean Adams

Dorothy Jean Cox went to be with the Lord July 13, 2014. She was born October 15, 1930, to the late Argie and Una Adams. She was proceeded in death by her husband Clisty Cox, her brothers and sisters, Jackie Adams, Dick Adams, Eddie Adams, Sallie McGhee and Barbara Hunt and son-in-law, Rocky Denison. She was a home maker, had been a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout leader, poll worker. She grew up a Methodist but as an adult attended the Church of Christ. She is survived by daughters Kathy Denison, Jeannie Sims and husband Martin, Cheryl Fletcher and husband Larry, seven grandchildren, Brook Metzler, Ashley Denison, Candace Fletcher, Courtney Fletcher, Catherine Fletcher, Cara Dyer and Conley Sims. She was also survived by three great-grandchildren and a cousin Tommie Adams.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday at Ashby's.

Cox, Faitha Mae Peeler

Faitha Cox of Harrisburg died Monday, June 7, 1999. She was 66.
She was born May 5, 1933, to David and Elva Peeler.
She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Harrisburg, where she served as pianist and president of the Sectional Ladies' Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Glenn Cox; two daughters, Yolanda Mitchell of Little Rock and Tamora Mitchell of Lincoln, Illinois.; one son, Stephen Glenn Cox of Jonesboro; four brothers, David Peeler, Jr., of Benton, Plumer Peeler of Malvern, James Peeler of Tuscon, Arizona, and John Peeler of Galena, Missouri; four sisters, Wilma Carden of San Francisco, Helen Ross and Elsie Whitley of Benton, and Anna Pickard of Beebe; and two grandchildren, Tyler Glenn Cox and Kyle David Mitchell.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Pentecostal Church in Harrisburg. The Rev. B. J. Thomas, the Rev. J. L. Hicks and the Rev. David Hale will officiate.
A graveside service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Scheduled to serve as pallbearers are the Rev. Jerry Johnson, the Rev. John Harris, the Rev. Danny Murphy, the Rev. Keith Stokes, the Rev. Robert White and the Rev. Stephen Judd.

Cox, William McWhorter "Max"

William Max Cox, aged 53, died Sunday night in a local hospital.
Mr. Cox was born and reared in Fulton and lived in Hempstead County all of his life, finally making Hope his home. He owned and operated the Hempstead Motor Company, Pontiac agency, for the past 15 years. He also operated extensive farming interests in Miller County and had real estate holding in Hope.
During his years in Hope Mr. Cox was a member of the Rotary Club and the Hope Country Club. He had attended the University of Arkansas. Mr. Cox is survived by his mother, Mrs. Forest Cox of Hope; one sister, Mrs. Marie Hendrix of Hope; two nephews, Robert Dewey Hendrix, Jr., of Little Rock and David Max Hendrix of Hope and one niece, Mrs. Robert Bressler of Memphis, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, September 6, in the First Methodist Church at 10:30 o'clock. Rev. J. E. Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

Crabtree, Izora Wyatt

Izora Wyatt Crabtree, 98, went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2010. She was born in Garland County to Noah and Lona (Garner) Wyatt, on February 23, 1912. She is predeceased by her parents; and loving husband of 72 years, James Paul Crabtree; four brothers, Oscar, Garland, Alfred and Jessie Wyatt; one nephew, Don Wyatt; and one niece, Shirley Pawelczak. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Lilly Wyatt of Lonsdale; three nephews, Bob Wyatt, Paul Wyatt and Doyle Wyatt, all of Hot Springs; three nieces, Jeanette Westerman of Lonsdale, Mary Lou Jones and Barbara Edds, both of Hot Springs. Izora was the oldest member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker with a beautiful smile and great sense of humor, even in her sickness. She was a very devoted wife and was always beside her husband enjoying camping, hunting, fishing and building numerous houses in California, Arizona and Arkansas.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Teddy Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Creek Cemetery.

James Paul Crabtree, 95, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010. He was born June 29, 1914, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Stonewall Jackson Crabtree and Margaret (Faught) Crabtree. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church and a retired heavy duty mechanic. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Izora Crabtree. He is preceded in death by brothers Leon Crabtree, Theodore Crabtree, and F. A. Kirkham; sisters Ernie Kirkham and Madie Kirkham. Lavern C. Croxton, age 96, of Benton, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010. She was born December 23, 1913, in Owensville, Arkansas. Mrs. Croxton worked for Gingles Hardware and Gingles Bankruptcy. She was a life long member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Croxton was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Lena Chenault; husband, Hiram Croxton; daughter, Loretta McCallister; six brothers, Herbert, Horace, Floyd, Lilburn, Albert and Jess Chenault and four sisters, Ora Sanders, Corrine Edmonson, Bertha Gwatney and Ola Murphree.
She is survived by her daughter, Nelda Kitchens (Harold) of Benton; sister, Bonnie McNeil of Benton; seven grandchildren, Cheryl Lupton (Adrian), Dr. Cara Burris (John), Karen Rhodes (Red), Debbie Dorsey (Don), Lynn McCallister (Lisa), Janie Bryant (Jackie) and Glynn McCallister (Brandi); six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
