Adams, Jean Alley
Conway - Mrs. Jean Alley Adams, 50, of Conway, formerly of Benton and
wife of Wilburn Adams, died Friday.
Mrs. Adams was co-owner of Pickles
Gap Araft Craft Shop near Conway. She was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church of Benton and had been selected for Who's Who in American Women
for 1977.
Others surviving are a son, Jack B. Adams of Conway; a daughter,
Mrs. Lou Jane Wills of Conway; four brothers, Paul Alley of Benton, James
Alley of Bryant, Lee Alley of Fairbrook, California, and Charles Alley of
Fort Smith; a sister, Mrs. Nona Louise Spradling of North Little Rock, and
two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at the First Presbyterian
Church at Benton by Rev. Bob Walton. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery
by Harrison Funeral Home of Benton.
Memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society.

Adams, Wilburn Curtis
Private services for Wilburn Curtis "Wil" Adams, 72, Canton,
will be held in Benton, Arkansas.
Burial will be in Old Rosemont Cemetery,
Benton, Arkansas.
Mr. Adams died Sunday, December 13, 1998, in Hospice
HomePlace, Tyler.
He was born December 14, 1925, in Benton, Arkansas,
to W. W. and Myra Hutchison Adams. He was a vendor at First Monday for 20
years. He was a self-employed wood worker, making wood crafts. He was preceded
in death by his first wife, Jean Alley Adams.
Survivors include his wife,
Jeanne Adams, Canton; son, Jack Byron Adams, Conway, Arkansas; daughter,
Lou Jane Wills, Greenbriar, Arkansas; brother, Don G. Adams, Little Rock,
Arkansas; two step-sons, David Nichols, Seattle, Washington, and Daniel
Nichols, Bigelow, Arkansas.

Allen, Mary Gwyn Hansen
Mary Gwyn Allen, 61, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Benton, passed away
on Monday, January 28, 2013. She was born in Benton on October 6, 1951,
to the late Richard and Mary Lee Hansen.
Mary Gwyn worked for numerous
state agencies, the last being the Texas Early Hearing Detection and Intervention
program in Austin. She also worked for the Arkansas Department of Health
Infant Hearing Program. Her co-workers were more than just co-workers; they
were friends. She loved watching films; playing with her pet cat, Sunny;
listening to music; watching anything science fiction; and reading as much
as humanly possible.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dewey
Edward Allen III; her parents; and her great-grandmother, Elle Gwin Raper.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessice Schlinker and husband Brent of
Little Rock; her mother-in-law, Jean West of Malvern; and sister-in-law
Cindy Matthews and husband Terry of Malvern.
A private family memorial
service will be held at a later date. Cremation is through Heart of Texas

Ammons, Garry Eugene
Garry Eugene Ammons, 62, of Bauxite died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Hospice
Home Care in Little Rock.
He was born December 17, 1945, in Benton.
Mr. Ammons was an LPTN and served in the Arkansas Army National Guard.
His father, Willie Ammons and two nephews preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ammons of Bauxite; three daughters, Terri
Pritchard and Samantha Barron both of Bauxite and Sherri Ammons Weems of
Benton; his mother, Lottie Mae Ammons; two brothers, Allen Ammons of Haskell
and Darrell Ammons of Bauxite; three sisters, Cynthia Gardner, Glinda Smith,
and Nancy Banister all of Benton, and seven grandchildren, Roger Pritchard
Jr., Casey Pritchard, Jonathan Pritchard, Richard Dodson, Brittany Dodson,
Marissa Barron, and Tristan (Matt) Barron.

Anderson, George Lee
George Lee Anderson, age 66, of Benton, passed away Friday, March 8,
2013. He was born February 10, 1947, in Midway, Arkansas, to the late Jessie
Lee and Lorene Ashley Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years,
Darlene Fooks Anderson of Benton; his son, Jeremy George Anderson of Benton;
two brothers, Eugene Anderson of White Hall and J. C. Anderson of Texas
and five sisters, Betty Adcock of Bauxite, Winnie Harrison, Geraldine Masoner
and Brenda Wheeler all of Benton and Katie Reese of Malvern.
Visitation
will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 11 at Ashby Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Ashby Funeral
Home with burial at Mount Harmony Cemetery. Bro. Greg Spann will be officiating.

Austin, Sherry Lynn Shelnut
Sherry Lynn Austin, 55, of Benton died Friday, November 18, 2005.
Sherry was born December 3, 1949, in Benton and graduated from Benton High
School in 1967. Mrs. Austin attended Arkansas State University and Henderson
State University. During high school she was an avid athletics supporter
and was voted senior class favorite. Since college, she has been active
in the Benton school system, the community, and the education of her children.
She served two terms as a Benton School Board member, elected in 1992 and
re-elected in 1997. She was school board president during the 1997-1998
school year and again during the 2001-2002 school year.
During her first
term as president, planning and construction began for the Benton High School
Arena, and in her second term as president, the original concepts for the
current district wide renovation and construction project were first developed.
She has been involved with the Benton Athletic Memorial Museum since its
inception and served as vice president in 1999. She served as an active
member on the board of directors until her health did not permit. She was
on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Saline County from
1986 to 1991, serving as vice president in 1989. During her time on the
board of directors, the club changed its name from the Boys Club to the
Boys and Girls Club.She was the Howard Perrin UPTO president in 1987, volunteer
for the Benton Middle School and Benton Junior High School, a Benton High
School supporter, and prepared pre-game meals for the Panthers while her
son played football. She was a Brownie troop leader for her daughter, and
Benton Boys and Girls Club soccer coach for five years, and coached her
son's Odyssey of the Mind team. She was a real estate agent for the
Thomas Agency for 10 years; she became a member of the Million Dollar Club
($1 million in sales in one year) in 1955.
She was preceded in death
by her father, Elbert "Blue," and mother, Bertha Shelnut, and
a brother, James Shelnut.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years,
Oren Austin of Benton; a son, Adam Austin and wife Melissa of Woodstock,
Georgia; a daughter, Courtney of Benton; a son, Reginald Austin and wife
Bethany; a granddaughter, Jasmine Nash of Hillsboro, Oregon; two brothers,
C. R. Shelnut of Duluth, Georgia, and Wane Shelnut of Benton; and countless
other friends and family.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. today at the
Ashby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in McPherson Cemetery at Sardis. The
Rev. Carl Ritchey officiated.
Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls
Club of Saline County and the Benton Athletic Memorial Museum.
