Earney, Stella Mae Pelton Carraway
Stella Mae Pelton Carraway Earney, went to be with the Lord on September
4, 2015. She was a resident of Benton and had previously lived in North
Little Rock and Little Rock.
Stella was born on June 21, 1928, and had
an identical twin sister, Della (Dib) Lee. She graduated from Benton High
School in 1946. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until
1982. She was a charter member of Bible Study Fellowshipin Little Rock and
served for 30 years. She has been a Sunday School teacher and a long time
supporter of various Ministries. Stella was a member of First Southern Baptist
Church in Bryant.
Stella is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and
Marion Pelton; her sisters Norma Jean Scott and Della Faye Lee; two brothers,
Hogan and Bill Pelton; her husband, Floyd Earney and her first husband,
C. F. Carraway.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Pelton, daughter,
Cindi and son-in-law, Robert Walker; stepdaughters, Kaye Earney, Candy Earney
and stepson Joe Earney. She also has five grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September
19 at First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant. [from the

Edmonson, Charles Morris "Charley"
Charles “Charley” Morris Edmonson, age 62, of Benton, passed
away Monday, July 11, 2011. He was born February 1, 1949, in Bauxite, Arkansas.
Charley retired as a first sergeant from the U.S. Army, then worked for
the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years, until his retirement in February.
He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he served as
deacon. Charley was preceded in death by his parents, Lofton and Corene
Edmonson and two brothers, Wayne Edward Edmonson and Ronald Morgan Edmonson.
He is survived by his wife, Avon Edmonson of Benton; two daughters,
Ronda Edmonson and Carol Brown both of Hot Springs; sister, Mary Chism of
Benton; three grandchildren, Terrin, Abby and Gage and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Michael Edmonson, Bryan Edmonson,
Derek Chism, Brad Chism, Rick Davis and Gary Sledd.
Visitation will
be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 at Ashby Funeral Home.
Funeral
services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14 at Ashby Funeral Home with

Ellis, James Whitcomb IV
James Whitcomb Ellis IV of Benton died Thursday, March 5, 1998. He was 48. He was an electrician for Facilities Management and Maintenance Service and a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Karen Dacus Ellis; one daughter, Amy Lynn Ellis of Houston, Texas; two stepsons, Joshua Eric Griffin and Zachary Clay Griffin, both of Benton; parents, Jim and Ruby Ellis, Jr., of Benton; and two sisters, Rachel Lacy of Benton and Mary Baldwin of Little Rock. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ashby Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow at New Rosemont Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Butler is to officiate. Scheduled to serve as pallbearers are Bob Cauley, Gerald Francis, James George, Cam Copeland, Terry Ellison, Doug Curtis, Steve Nichols and John McCullar. English, James T.
James T. "Tad" English, 67, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away
June 6, 2015. He was born to the late Charles F. and Naomi "Lovie"
Chaney-English on March 9, 1948 in Benton, Arkansas.
James proudly served
his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a field radio operator during the
Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart Medal and many other medals and
commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service
Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He was part
owner of a scuba shop and welding shop in Benton years ago. James enjoyed
hunting, wood-working and built low-boy trailers. He was a fighter and was
very courageous. James was a man of convictions and always stood for them.
He loved well - loved his God, his county, his family and his friends. He
was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, National
Rifle Association, and ELVP Hunting Club.
James was preceded in death
by his parents; Stella English; and Carl Wayne Hill.
He is survived by
his loving wife of 48 years, Norma English of Benton, Arkansas; daughter
Melissa Austin and husband Adam of Woodstock, Georgia; grandsons, Seth and
Caleb Austin; brother, Charles "Ropey" English of Breman, Georgia;
sisters, Charlene Palmer and husband Adrian of Shiloh, Georgia, and Billie
June Davenport and husband Richard of Mount Ida, Arkansas; and many other
family members and friends.
Reception visitation will be held Tuesday,
June 9, 2015, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.., Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N.
Market St., Benton, AR 72015. Funeral service, officiated by Bro. Jeff Langley,
will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Smith-Benton Funeral
Home with burial to follow at Smith-Rosemont Cemetery.

Evans, Shirley May McGinley
Shirley May McGinley Evans, 82 of Nashville, AR, formerly of Benton and
Bryant, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, at a Nashville nursing home.
She was born October 23, 1929, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Connell
and Lillie Tull McGinley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond
E. Evans; son-in-law Rick Castleberry; and brother, Harold McGinley.
A graduate of Bryant High School, Shirley was a long-time bookkeeper at
White Furniture and a faithful member of both Benton and Bryant First United
Methodist Churches.
She is survived by one daughter, Connie Evans Castleberry
of Nashville; granddaughters Courtney (Jeff) Worthen of Benton, and Kate
(Marc) Kuykendall of Nashville; great-granddaughters Kyleigh and Landrey
Kuykendall of Nashville; brother Bill (Bonnie) McGinley of Sardis; sister,
Maxine (Ed) Wine of Bryant, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside
services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Pinecrest
