Lacy, Martha Virginia Vaughan

Martha Virginia Lacy, of Benton, age 90 was joyously welcomed into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, April 25, 2008. Born in Bearden, Arkansas, she was saved at an early age and devoted her life to God, her church, and her family. Many lives were changed and touched through her dedication to teaching Sunday school and other tasks at her church. Martha worked several years in the Benton School system as a cook, and then later worked 27 years at Saline Memorial Hospital in the same capacity. She dedicated herself in preparing food for patients and others by never missing a day of work.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Linnie Bell Vaughan and four brothers, Homer, Coby, Pete and Jessie Vaughan.
Missing her smile and love is her husband of 67 years, Randolph Lacy and sister Marguerite Keenan of Benton. She raised her children and passed her Christian principles on to them, daughter, Judy Davis and husband Harrell of Benton, son Jim Lacy and wife Janey of Fayetteville. Grandchildren remembering her are Stephanie McConnell and husband Don of Colleyville, Texas; Jenny Nichols and husband Ted of Benton; Laura Lacy of Fayetteville; David Lacy and wife Abby of Rogers; and Aaron Lacy of Columbus, Ohio. Great-grandchildren are Kallee Nichols of Benton and Lindsey McConnell of Colleyville, Texas.
A celebration of Martha's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 28, 2008, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton. Services will be conducted by Rev. Kim Hammer and Rev. Jason Tallent. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Bearden, Arkansas, at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2008. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Vaughan, Johnny Vaughan, Carlton Sanders, Don McConnell, Ted Nichols, and Charles Wallace.

Langley, James Edward

Edward Langley, aged 64, of Benton died Saturday. He was a retired employee of the Saline County Lumber Company and a member of the Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shirley Wilson Langley; five sons, Randy E. Langley, Roger D. Langley and Joe Langley, all of Benton, Darryl A. Langley of Alexander and Harvey L. Langley of Dell City, Oklahoma; four daughters, Mrs. Eunice Wise of Bryant, Mrs. Janie Fikes of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Carolyn Borders and Miss Hilda Langley, both of Benton; three brothers, Walter Langley of Camarillo, California, and William Langley and Hubert Langley, both of Benton; three sisters, Mrs. Etta Yates of Benton, Mrs. Aline Shields of Hot Springs and Mrs. Faye Bennett of New Orleans and ten grandchildren. Langley, Shirley Marie Wilson

Shirley Marie Wilson Langley, 88, of Benton died Wednesday, March 22, 2006. She was born January 19, 1918, in Saline County to James Daniel and Lillian Gertrude Peeler Wilson. Mrs. Langley was a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Edward Wilson. Survivors include five sons, Harvey, Roger, Darryl and Joe Langley, all of Benton, and Randy Langley of Klamath Falls, Oregon; four daughters, Eunice Wise of Bryant, Carolyn Adcock of Bauxite and Janie Fikes and Hilda Kemp, both of Hot Springs; a brother, Sam Nalley of Chattanooga, Tennessee; four sisters, Ellen Wilson, Irene Kane and Mary Lou Weise, all of Benton, and Jimmie Vance of Owensville; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Lawhon, Marylin Jenelle Meador Massa

Marylin "Jenelle" Lawhon, age 70, of Alexander, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2009. Jenelle was a 1957 graduate of Central High School. She attended Capital Business College before going to work at the Pentagon. She retired after 25 years of service with the Arkansas State Chamber AIA. Jenelle was a very loving person who never met a stranger. She was a great cook, and enjoyed feeding family and friends. She will be missed by many.
Jenelle was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd "Pop" Meador, and mother Edna "Nan" Ratcliffe. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Don Lawhon; two sons, Jim Massa and wife Cindy of Greenbrier, Mike Massa of Hot Springs; one stepson, Kenneth Ard of Pine Bluff; stepfather, Cummins Ratcliffe of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren Jimmy, Stephanie, Austin, Natalie, Dustin, Justin, Kristin; five great-grandchildren; and her beloved canine companion, Gidget.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at Griffin-Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander (501-455-1067). Averice Elizabeth Hudson Lawrence, 78, of Pine Bluff, died January 11, 2001, at Davis Life Care Center.
Born May 25, 1922, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Chester W. Hudson and Anna Mae Word Hudson.
She received her education in the Sulphur Springs schools. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Pleasant Home Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Claud Lawrence in 1978; two brothers, Aubrey Hudson and Thomas Hudson, and a sister, Mary Lou Henderson.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Lawrence Sr., of Pine Bluff; a brother, Jimmy Hudson of Leola; a sister, Clarice Wood of Oregon; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Cranford Funeral Home at White Hall with Gerald Wingard officiating. Burial will be at Lee Cemetery.

Lawrence, Wendell Claude

Wendell Claude Lawrence, 61, of the Double Wells community hear here, died Sunday at Jefferson Hospital.
He was a son of the late Gilbert and Emma Ginnett Lawrence. He was a timberman and a machine operator for Brown Manufacturing Company. He was a member of Taylor Masonic Lodge 206 and the Pleasant Home Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Averice Hudson Lawrence; a son, Jerry Lawrence of the Double Wells community; three brothers, Kenneth Lawrence of Lexington, North Carolina, J. C. Lawrence and Kirby Lawrence of Pine Bluff; his stepmother, Mrs. Hester Lawrence of Pine Bluff; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church by Reverend Howard Upson. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will be in Lee Cemetery by Hale South Funeral Home.

LeDoux, Joseph Paul Ebel

Paul LeDoux, 84, of Hot Springs died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, in a local hospital.
Born December 6, 1913, in Biddeford, Maine, he was a drilling superintendent for Montgomery Drilling Co. and member of St. John's Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Fabiola and Adelard LeDoux.
Survivors include his wife, Opalee LeDoux of Hot Springs; a son, Paul R. LeDoux Sr. of Fayetteville, Georgia; three grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
Services and burial will be private with Father James West officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Lively, Don Burks, Frank B. Harper, and Dr. Robert McCrary Jr.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Lewis, Sarah Gladys Reaves

Sheridan -- Sarah Gladys Reaves Lewis, 85, of Sheridan, died Tuesday at Hot Spring County Medical Center at Malvern. She was born April 21, 1918, in the Crossroads community, a daughter of the late Louis Gaine Reaves and Eva Wallace Reaves. She began teaching piano lessons in 1935 and was a music teacher in the Sheridan and Prattsville schools for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheridan, where she served as music director for many years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Friendship Sunday School Class and was a former member of the Sheridan Golf and Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stonewall "Stoney" Lewis, who died on Jan. 20, 2004; and one son, Phil Lewis. Survivors include one son, Scott Lewis of Sheridan; one daughter, Pat Lewis Humphries of Sheridan; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating. Lewis, Stonewall Franklin

Sheridan -- Stonewall F. "Stoney" Lewis, 85, of Sheridan, died Tuesday at Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 29, 1918, at Indiahoma, Oklahoma, a son of the late Clarence Ruff Lewis and Linnie Jane Whitaker Lewis. He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired lumberman for W.R. Wrape Stave Company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church at Sheridan, the Men's Bible Class and an early member of the Sheridan Golf Club. He was preceded in death by one son, Phil Lewis. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Reaves Lewis; one son, Scott Lewis of Sheridan; one daughter, Pat Lewis Humphries of Sheridan; and two grandchildren. William Cuthbert Lewis, aged 58, of Benton died Saturday. A former Sheridan resident, he was an employee of Aluminum Company of America for 28 years, an Army veteran of World War II and a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucille Murray Lewis; two sons, William V. and Robert N. Lewis, both of Benton; a daughter, Mrs. William M. Bradley of North Little Rock; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Earline Eloise Coppett Lindsey, 85 of Camden, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Ouachita County Medical Center.
She was born March 05, 1928, to Earl and Christine Haire Coppett in Calhoun County, Arkansas. She was a member of Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Edward Lindsey; parents, Earl and Christine Haire Coppett; brother, Jerry Joe Coppett.
She is survived by her son, Eddie Lindsey and wife, Joanie of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Edith Dunn and husband, Dale of Spiro, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brandi Harper and husband, Brandon of Spiro, Oklahoma, Denver Dunn and wife, Shyla of Spiro, Oklahoma, Judy Doherty and husband, Kenneth of Camden, Arkansas, Earl Lindsey Jr. and wife, Cassie of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Jaquita Lindsey of Benton, Arkansas; and nine great-grandchildren.

Rev. Edward Eugene "Bud" Lindsey, 88, of Camden died Friday, June 28, 2013, at his home in Camden. Bro. Lindsey was born January 11, 1925, in Bearden, the son of Lester and Laura Douglas Williamson Lindsey. He was a retired ordained Assembly of God Minister and heavy equipment operator for the Highway Department.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

Loe, Genevieve Calloway Dixon

Genevieve Dixon Loe, 78 of Smackover, Arkansas, died Saturday, October 4, 2008, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.
She was born September 23, 1930, to Spencer Irkson Calloway and Nannie Kate McKnight Calloway. She was a member of Joyce City Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Truman W. Dixon and William E. Loe; and two brothers John W. Calloway and James J. "Joe" Calloway.
She is survived by three brothers; Fred M. Calloway and his wife, Shirley, of Liberty, Texas, Jerry Calloway and his wife, Barbara of Longview, Texas, and Mike Calloway and his wife, Andy of San Antonio, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Young's funeral Directors of El Dorado. Services will be 10 am, Monday, October 6, 2008. in Young's Chapel with Rev. David Preston and Rev. Anthony Briggs officiating. Interment will follow the service in Smackover Cemetery.

Lovell, Billie Almeta Alderman

Billie Almeta Lovell, age 81, of Benton, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009. She was born May 4, 1928, in Stanton, Texas, to the late Ira and Tennie Alderman. Mrs. Lovell was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Eric Lovell of Fort Smith and Lanny Lovell (June) of Benton; daughter, Jolene Duff (David) of Benton; four sisters, Ethel Davenport (James) of Benton, Hazel Daniel (Loyd) of Madisonville, Texas, Bobbie Price of Traskwood and Margie Padgett (Shorty) of Houston, Texas; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29 at Ashby Funeral Home.

Lynch, Paul Alfred, Jr.

Paul Alfred Lynch, Jr., of Hot Springs, died Friday, April 20, 2001, in a local hospital.
Born July 2, 1944, to Paul A. and Louise Lynch Sr., he was a graduate of Hot Springs High School, Arkansas Tech University and Louisiana State University School of Banking of the South and a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran. Retired from Mercantile Bank in Hot Springs, he was vice president of Worthen Bank for 24 years; past president of Hot Springs Optimist Club, past district secretary treasurer of the Arkansas District of Optimist International; past board member of the Hot Springs Boys Club, advisory board member of the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center, and Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Susan Lynch of Hot Springs; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeff Lynch and Brandon and Stacy Lynch, all of Hot Springs; one brother, Tim Lynch of Hot Springs; two aunts, Betty Crawford of North Highlands, California, and Clarice Lynch of Arkadelphia; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gross Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John McCallum officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Kinsey, Jerry Robbins, Paul Burge, Larry Selig, Tim Milligan and Bob Lacy.
