My Peeler Family Genealogy

James Turner Wilson Peeler

The above photograph is of my great-grandpa James Turner Wilson Peeler. He was born in Mississippi and died in Saline County, Arkansas.

I have only been able to verify my Peeler family to my great-great-great-grandpa George Anthony Peeler. I do, believe, however, that George's father was Anthony Peeler; but no proof exists that I know.

The probate of James Turner Peeler leaves an "impression" that George Anthony Peeler was his father.

Tippah County, Mississippi, Probate Court:
Be it remembered that at a session of the Probate Court of Tippah County begin and held at the Court House thereof on the first Monday in February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight George A. Peeler having entered into bond with sufficient security as directed by law he was appointed Guardian of the person and estate real and personal of Sarah E. Peeler Mary F. Peeler and James W. T. Peeler infant children of James T. Peeler deceased. [From a transcription of the probate document by a cousin. I do not have the original probate.]

The following deed (Tippah County, Mississippi, transcribed by the same cousin) is proof that James T. Peeler was a son of George and Nancy:

September 1840 Between George A Peeler and George A Peeler} Nancy Peeler his wife of the one part and James T. Peeler son of the said Geo A Peeler and Nancy of the other part witnesseth that for the love and affection which the said Geo A. Peeler and Nancy Peeler his wife hath their said son James T. Peeler and also for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid to the said Geo A Peeler and Nancy Peeler by the said James T. Peeler...
