NOTES ON OFFICERS' DRESS


Dated 18 June, 1896

NUMBER 3, "FROCK COAT WITH EPAULETTES"

Frock coat, epaulettes, morning waistcoat, plain blue or white trousers, cocked hat, sword, undress belt, ribbons of decorations and medals, stars of orders, (Knights Commander to wear the badge of the Order as well; see Article 128, clause 4).

To be worn;

  1. When receiving their Royal Highnesses, the Prince and Princess of Wales, heirs to thrones, or other members of the English or foreign Royal families; at ports at Home or abroad. (All masthead flags being hoisted).
  2. Courts Martial;
  3. Funerals;
  4. Boarding foreign ships of war;
  5. Exchanging visits of ceremony with foreign officers, or other foreign functionaries.
  6. Occasions of duty and ceremony when "Frock Coat" dress is not sufficient.
