St. John's
Anglican Church Cemetery, Arichat
Transcription by Stirling Edwards
The older section of the graveyard is on the hill to the east, separated from the church by the Old Grandique Road, and is not being maintained. I transcribed the cemetery in 1992; at that time, the old section was already heavily overgrown by shrubs and young trees, and it is now said to be completely inaccessible. As a matter of interest, the original Courthouse and jail (circa 1814) was sited right next to these graves, before the present Courthouse was built in 1847.
The stones marked "LB" were missed by me in the undergrowth in 1992, and were kindly supplied by Lorenzo Boudreau of Arichat, who had catalogued them earlier. |
