There was no Mann's listed in the 1830 Harris County census.  1840 census, there is: Millnen Distrct No. 1 Asa Mann Male 2(0-5), 1(10-15), 1(40-50), 1(50-60) Female 1(0-5), 1(30-40). Apparently James moved there between 1841/1845 when he married Martha Jane Bearden 31 Oct 1845. He remained there for the 1850 but moved by the 1860 census where I find him in Tallapoosa Co., AL. He moved to Clay Co., AL by the 1880 census where he lived out the rest of his life.

In the County Line Cemetery buried next to the Mann family is:

I would like to find the connection of these Griffin's to Ann D. Mann Griffin and Silas Griffin

Tallapossa Co., AL  there is only one James Mann listed in the married books but several show the initial J. Mann only. James Mann last appears with his parents on the 1870 census in Tallapossa Co., AL.

1870 Clay Co., AL Census

Could this be John W. Mann listed in the marriage records above? In the 1900 census recorded on June 8 for Clay Co. I found Mann, John W. born March 1832-widowed; Nancy (niece) born December 1870; ?(name is smugded) nephew born April 1889; Rilla (niece) born December 1897.
