Charles Clinton Pavy was born Feb. 19, 1873 in a log house on his father's farm in Cotton Township of Switzerland County; near Allensville, Indiana. He was the second child and oldest son of George Washington and Martha S. (Tinker) Pavy. He attended school in Switzerland County, Indiana. He taught school in Switzerland County while taking summer courses at Central Normal College in Danville, Indiana. He later taught in Ohio County Schools. He purchased a farm and became a full time farmer. He died in an auto accident on Nov.16, 1934, in Ohio County, Indiana, at the age of 61 years, 8 months, and 28 days. The funeral service was in the Rising Sun Christian Church by H. B. Steele with burial in the Rising Sun Cemetery next to his wife, Minnie.

He joined the Methodist church in Allensville, Indiana, during his boyhood. He transferred his membership to the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church when he lived in Mt. Pleasant and later was a member of the Rising Sun Christian Church while living near Rising Sun, Indiana. He was initiated into the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Allensville, Indiana, and later transferred to the Rising Sun Lodge.

Charles married Minnie Myrtle Higbee on March 27, 1901 at her father's home about a mile toward Aberdeen, Indiana, from Cass Union School.

Charles and Minnie lived in an old house on the Higbee farm until they purchased a 80 acre farm nearby. The farm had a house on it, which they remodeled and moved into after about a year and a half. Minnie died on Feb. 13, 1919 leaving Charles to raise their 3 children alone.

Charles was a kind and affectionate teacher and an industrious and economizing farmer who always used intelligence in this work. He was not strong in physique but open and friendly in his dealings with humans and animals. He was quite, unassuming, truthful and honest. He believed in helping his fellowmen and was constructive in his efforts. He sought to encourage, praise and build up others. On his final day he went to the country with his Pastor and members of his church to secure fuel for the church.

Charles and Minnie Pavy had three children.

Martha Viola Pavy
was born on March 11, 1902 in a small house on the Higbee farm. She married Louis William Jenner on Dec. 18, 1924 in Ohio County; Rising Sun, Indiana. They had no children.

Alfred William Pavy was born on Feb. 9, 1904 in a house on the Pavy Farm in Ohio County; Indiana. He married Mary Lucille Jenner on June 14, 1926 in Warrick County; Newburgh, Indiana. They had 12 children.

Frances Esther Pavy was born on Aug. 23, 1907 on the Pavy Farm in Ohio County, Indiana. She married Charles William Huffman on Oct. 3, 1925 in Ohio County; Rising Sun, Indiana. They had 3 children.
