John Peavey of Portsmouth was a carpenter.

On August 27, 1759 he was granted the administration of his father's estate. His father, William of Portsmouth, mariner died in 1730 but his estate was under his wife's care for a period of time until her death in Barrington. At that point John took over to complete it's administration.

From "Newington Families", Oct. 31, 1765, Mary Stuart (Widow), Sarah Dalling (Widow), Samuel Dalling )Mariner) and his wife Abigail, and Elizabeth Seward (Widow), all of Portsmouth, conveyed to John Peavey (Carpenter), the premises on Pickerings Mill where the grantie now lives, formerly owned by William Peavey, a father of the grantors. (N.H. Colonial Deeds, vol. 91, page 417)

From "Newington Families", May 20, 1771, John Peavey of Portsmouth, (Ship Carpenter) and Dorcas, his wife, conveyed the foregoing premisis pointed East on the main road heading to Pickerings Mill, to Elizabeth Seward (Widow of Benjamin). (N.H. Colonial Deeds, vol. 96, page 390)

From "Newington Families", July 28, 1774, Samuel Dalling, and Mehitable his wife, Sarah Dalling (Widow), Elizabeth Seward (Widow), and Mary Stuart (Widow), all of Portsmouth conveyed 60 acres at Barrington, part of lot 173 in the Foster Range. (Strafford Deeds, vol. 132, page 406)

According to the Pevey Peavey files -Fern Galle, John received property 1765 from Estate of Father, William
(as well as other siblings: Wm, Mary, Sarah, Mehitable, Abigail)
