OBITUARY:   Henry McEwen Jones was born in Chester Co TN, near Mifflin TN. has lived there all his life with the exception of 14 months during the war. He joined the 8th Texas Regiment under General Wheeler in the Confederate Army where he remained until the war closed. He came home where he was happily married to Miss Sarah Frances Spencer the 27th of Aug 1878. He joined the Missionary Church at Friendship in September 1888. Departed this life March the 12th 1898; aged 64 years, 10 months and 15 days. He died of pneumonia, was sick something near two weeks. He bore his suffering with great fortitude and spoke frequently to his folks and neighbors around his bed side about going home to that long home of rest where family ties will be broken no more.       Bro W J Hodges preached his funeral at his residence to a large congregation of his relatives and friends. His remains were then conveyed to the family grave yard near by and his body was there confined to the narrow limits of the tomb to remain until Gabriel sounds his trumpet for that resurection morn. he leaves a wife and four little children to mourn his death. His wife loses a dear companion, his children a good father and his friends a good neighbor. He was a Christian man, a good citizen, always ready and willing to help his neighbor and fellowman. We will say to this bereaved family to weep not for him, he has gone to rest where sickness, sorrow and death are felt no more. We must trust in Jesus and live so as to be prepared to go when he calls us to meet death, after which, by the help of God, we will meet those who have go on before. Your friend, J. T. PRIDDY.
