After the death of James and Nancy:
When James Pendarvis died (before July 1867, as say dates in his probate records for year 1867) the business was run by his partner, S.B. McLin (listed as a Lawyer on census records). James Pendarvis also brought into business with George Brown, J. Exley, Sr. (d 1857), (brother-in-law to Nancy), and Lewellen (aka Lew/Lewelling/Lewellan) Williams (Nancy's brother), Mary Exley (Nancy's sister). James Pendarvis/Pendarvis had several other business partners.
Receiver for estate: S. Walker
Appraisors for James Pendarvis estate:(June 1867)
D.A. Frier, F.A. Underwood, W. B. Wimberly
[Documented:] Recorded in Alachua Co, FL probate court records for James Exley (only 3 pgs). The probate took from 1867 until Nov 1894 to dissolve. Nancy Pendarvis was administrator until her death in 1872. Then daughter, Susan Pendarvis, (married to Daniel V. Stroble).
[Documented]
[note:] As written in letter to Alachua County, FL Probate Records Judge: by Pellie Pendarvis-Button, 1879, and another letter from her husband, W. W. Button.
Susan took over as administrator and was sued by James Exley to give up the position (1880 & 1881), due to her dishonestity and lack of care of James & Nancy's "minor" children: William Allen, George L. & Joseph James. Susan was listed as daughter to James Pendarvis on first page of James Exley probate records.
James Exley (a first cousin) was appointed quardian of William Allen, George L. & Joseph James; and made administrator after Susan Stroble. He was the son of James Exley, d. 1857 and Margret Mary Williams married to:
[1] Isacc Blanton/Blantin married in 1842
[2] James Exley married 1855, died 1857, Margret Mary was Nancy's sister. Her son, James Exley, b 1856, was listed on Alachua County probate records, as an heir to Pendarvis family.
