WYATT
HOLT FAMILY TREE
of
Greene
County, Tennessee
Wyatt
Holt was my Gr-Gr-Gr-Grandfather and for a time
was my most elusive ancestor. But as the years passed,
more about him and his family began to unfold, to my
delight. The purpose for creating this site continues to be
for sharing this family history ...and, to learn
more about Wyatt from others. No photograph
of him seems to exist.
He
first married in 1800. Unfortunately, his Wife's name
has not been discovered, nor the name of her father.
Twelve children came of their union. She
died in 1823-24. If you know of her,
'please' Email me at the address below. She was my
Gr-Gr-Gr-Grandmother. Wyatt married about three and a
half years later and their family is included in this site
also.
Wyatt has
been connected to over 10 other Holt
families unknown to his descendants in this last century.
This
miracle was accomplished by
Wyatt's gr-gr-gr-Grandson, who joined the FamilyTreeDNA
project ... bringing to light not only our kinship to the
other Holt families, but unveiling a few names of our
oldest-known Kinfolk in the 1600's. See the 'Index'
at the bottom of next page for LINK to the DNA
page. For all connections, Click the highlighted
'New Data' LINK below.
"Genealogy
is the science of family descent" per Webster. More
specifically it is an 'Exact Science', for
only our exact ancestors are part of our family tree. Adding
any name to our 'tree' means we need 'good
evidence' if we do not have proof. Therefore, as
theories come and go, corrections are necessary now and
then. For a good understanding of tracing a family
history, I believe our Cousin Richard
Holt explains it the best: " Genealogy research
is not like writing a book. There is
no beginning, middle and end. A chapter ends with
beginning of the next and the task is never ending.
You will never know everything about all
the lines in a family. It just isn't possible
Something new and often unexpected will always
be popping up! If you don't realize this is a
never ending task ... yet one you deal with by knowing it is
such...then your eagerness will wane eventually, because you
will keep expecting to reach an end that will never
come."
This
site is mainly Text, altho there are also photos of the land
area where in 1815 Wyatt Holt owned property in North
Carolina. Along with proven information, some theories
are included and are used to
closely examine possibilities. If exploring
small tidbits of information about Wyatt Holt whets
your research-appetite, this site will
include a few that you might enjoy investigating. Also,
informative data is included from state and county records
always available for public use.

Many
thanks to William Coveduck who helped me create this site.

to share the history of Wyatt Holt was
a dream that became a reality. My
sincere thanks and heartfelt appreciation to you, William.
