A son of the late Josephus and Susan Myers Masenheimer, he was a retired farmer. His wife, Bernice Shuey Masenheimer, died March 21, 1958. He was a member of St. mary's Lutheran Church and Sunday School, Silver Run, Md. Surviving, besides his son Preston, are a son Ralph V. Masenheimer, 504 South Franklin Street; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister and a brother, Mrs. Effie Jones and Charles Masenheimer, hanover RD 1. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Little funeral home, Littlestown, with the Rev. Roland A. Ries, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Church Cemetery, Silver Run. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow evening.
Article--(written in date) June 6, 1953--Car Demolished In Accident---Murray E. Masenheimer, 74, Littlestown RD 2, escaped injury when his automobile ran into the side of a tractor-trailer on the Littlestown-Westminster road, two miles south of Littlestown, yesterday at 12:10 p.m. State police of the Gettysburg detail said Masenheimer, in leaving a gasoline station, made a sweeping right turn and struck an auxillary fuel tank on the side of the truck which was operated by James Fischer, 53, Baltimore. The car was demolished. Damage to the truck was place at $5.00.

Article--The Evening Sun--Thursday, May 11, 1972--(caption under picture) Maryland Native Robert Crawmer On 100th Birthday)---Littlestown Area Man Reaches 100--by Sheila Golden--Sun Correspondent--Littlestown--Robert Crawmer's firm handshake belies the centenarian's age. Crawmer, a lttlestown R.D. 2 resident who celebrates his 100th birthday today, was born near New Windsor, Md., May 11, 1872 and spent most of his life in that area until moving to the Littlestown vicinity in the 1940s. Crawmer shows a sharp mind and agile tongue for his age. Crawmer received a congratulatory message from Robert M. Ball, Social Security commissioner, and State Rep. Fred G. Klink (D-19th) was scheduled to present him with a citation from the State House of Representatives today. When he was 21, Crawmer married Laura Masenheimer, who was then 19, in Uniontown "sometime in 1893." The couple had four children--two boys and two girls. Roy, 76, the second oldest, is the only surviving offspring and his father has lived with Roy and his wife for the past 14 years. Laura Crawmer died 30 years ago. When a visitor mentioned to Crawmer that he was still young enought to remarry at that time, he chuckled and said, "I had one good woman and that is enough for any man." Crawmer's first job was as a hand at a neighboring farm when he was about 16. A year later he decided "I should have a trade" and went to work for six months learning to be a blacksmith. He decided because of the "scale"--the powdery dirt from heated iron which he didn't like, he'd go back to farming and do what he liked best. Crawmer recalled that during the Depression he was a Union Towhsip road supervisor, a job he held for 16 years. "Once," he said, "on the first day of January we had five feet of snow on the ground. We put out a call that we would hire 12 men, but 36 showed up. We put thme to work but it still took us nearly four weeks to get the roads cleared. At that time we didn't have the equipment to move snow like they do today." Crawmer said as far back as he can remember, getting up for work meant arising at 4 a.m. and sometimes 3:30. But he said, "it was a good life working on a farm." He retired at the age of 78 but he feels working outdoors has been responsible for his longevity because "I didn't get all that dirt (from blacksmithing) in my lungs that you get when you work around fine dust." Crawmer doesn't drink or smoke but does admit to "chewing a little tobacco" occasionally. Weather permitting, he takes daily walks around the yard with the aid of a cane. Some years ago he had a cataract operation on one eye and his sight isn't the best. he said watching television hurst his eyes and he is a bit hard of hearing, but for a 100-year-old he has a good appetite and his health is generally good. He keeps a steady regimen of walks, and gets up around 8 each morning and goes to bed about 8 each night. he is still sharp enough to proudly show visitors pictues of his fifth generation offspring and when asked what is his most pleasnt memory, he replied with a moment's hesitation--"My honeymoon!" 5. Effie M. Masenheimer. Obituary--(written in date) October 12, 1966--Mrs. Maurice E. Jones--Mrs. Effie M. Jones, formerly of Hanover RD 1, died at 8 a.m. today at the Hanover General Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Josephus and Susan Myers Masenheimer, and was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church, Silver Run, Md. She was the wife of Maurice E. Jones, who died in October, 1961. Mrs. Jones is survived by a brother, Charles Masenheimer, Hanover RD 1, with whom she resided the past several months, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements in charge of the Little funeral home, Littlestown, are incomplete.
Funeral Saturday---The Rev. Carl E. Yost, pastor of West Manheim Lutheran Charge, will conduct the funeral service Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Little funeral home, Littlestown for Mrs. Effie Jones, Hanover RD 1, who died yesterday at the Hanover General Hospital. Article---(written in date) May 12, 1978--Accidnts Occur At Same Spot---One person was slightly injured in a two-car accident that occurred minutes after a two-vehicle collision at about the smae spot on Baltimore St., at O'Neill Ave., Thursday afternoon, Penn Twp. police reported. The first crash happened at 12:39 p.m. and involved a station wagon driven by Grace Klinedinst, 69, of 111 Charles AVe., and a car operated by Jerome Thomassy, 32, of 8 Valley View Road. While police were investigating the mishap Norman E. Masenheimer, Jr., 50, of 156 N. George St., was attemtping a left turn off Baltimore St. and was struck in the rear by a car driven by Craig S. Kemper, 17, of 201 Ruth Ave. Police said Kemper's mother, Mrs. Bernice L. Kemper, 49, was injred. She was trnsported in the Penn Twp. ambulance to the Hanover General Hospital where she was treated and released. Police said there was moderate damage to the Klinedinst and Masenheimer vehicles and light damage to the Thomassy and Kemper autos.

While the guests were assembling, a recital was presented by Miss Dorothy Alexander, Taneytown, and William Simpson, Westminster, soloists, and J. Herbert Springer, church organist. Escorted by her father, the bride was attired in an ankle-lengh gown of white lace and net, featuring a bodice of imported Chantilly lace, long tight sleeves, and lace appliques adorning the wide skirt of net over satin. Her fingertip veil of net was held in place by a juliet cap of lace and seed pearls. She carried a fridal bouquet of orchids and white rose. The matron of honor, Mrs. Ober S. Herr, Jr., Westminster, cousin of the bride, wore a gown of peacock taffeta and carried a bouquet sweetheart roses. Charles H. Suorber, Hsnover, served as best man. Ushers were Ober S. The bride was attired in a white dress with black accessories. The bridegroom is employed by the Keystone Cabinet Company, Littlestown. They will reside at Hanover RD 1.
