Mary Ann Perry

(1807/10 to aft 1880)

     Mary Ann Perry was born 1807/10¹ in Kanawha County, VA (WV).  Her parents are listed as being married in Monroe County in 1807, where they probably stayed for only a short time before moving onward to the Kanawha Valley.²  Mary lived with her parents until she married James Franklin Romine on 21 Dec 1828³ in Kanawha County.  Jimmie was born abt 1800⁴ and died sometime between 1870 and 1880 in Kanawha County.  The family appears on census records from 1850 to 1870 in Kanawha County and Mary appears once again in 1880⁵.  She died sometime after that, presumably in Kanawha County.

Rebecca Jane Romine

She was born abt 1829 in Kanawha County, VA (WV).  She was on the 1850 and 1860 censuses with her parents and may not have ever married.

John W Romine

John was born abt 1836 in Kanawha County, VA (WV).  His middle name may have been Wesley.⁶  John married a woman named Clarissa sometime before 1860.⁷

Margaret Romine

Margaret was born abt 1839 in Kanawha County, VA (WV).⁸  She married her second cousin William Stone on 14 Jan 1858⁹ at Paint Creek in Kanawha County.  William was the son of Richard Stone and Mary Basham.  Mary was reportedly the daughter of William Lloyd Basham and Amanda Meador.¹⁰  William was the son of John and Frances Basham of Franklin County, VA and was an older brother of the same Frances that married Robert E. Perry.

Mahala Romine

Mahala was born abt 1844 in Kanawha County, VA (WV).  She was listed on the censuses of 1850 and 1860 with her parents, but nothing further is known about her.

Richard Romine

Richard was born abt 1849 in Kanawha County, VA (WV).  He was on the 1850 census, but not the 1860 census, so he may have died as a child.

Caroline Romine

Caroline was born abt 1851 in Kanawha County, VA (WV).  She appears on the 1860 census as born before Richard, but was not on the 1850 census.  Nothing further is known.

Lucy J Romine

Lucy was born abt 1857 in Kanawha County, VA (WV).  Because of her year of birth, it appears that she was more likely a granddaughter of Mary and James’ than a daughter since Mary would have been around 50¹¹ at the time of Lucy's birth.  She was living with them at the time of the 1860 census.
