William E Perry

(1804 to 1888)

     William E. Perry was born 09 Sept 1804¹ in Bedford County, VA².  He married Anne Ellis Brooks in the mid to late 1820’s in Logan County, VA (now WV), which had just become a county in 1824/5.  Anne was born 06 May 1803 in Tazewell County, VA³.  She was the daughter of Richard Brooks and Margaret McClancy or McCallister.⁴

     William’s middle name has been reported as Edward⁵ by some researchers, though I know of no proof.  It has also been reported that he and Anne had a son named Edward or William Edward that was born in the 1820’s or 30’s and died as a small child.⁶

     The family lived in Logan County until shortly before 1850 when they lived in Nicholas County, VA (WV) for a couple of years and then to Boone County on Hewett’s Creek.⁷  William and Anne stayed in Boone County for the rest of their lives as shown in the census records in 1860 and 1870.  Anne died in 1870 or soon after in Peytona.  William appears on the 1880 census with his son Joseph and his family and died 02 Jul 1888⁸ on Lick Creek, Boone County, WV.

This child is not proven.  His name may have been Edward or William Edward and was born in the 1820’s or 1830’s in Logan County, VA (WV).  He apparently died as a small child.¹⁰
