Ancestors Pages

These web-pages explore the ancestors and families associated with the grandparents of Peter and Margaret Annis: that is the Annis, Pentland, Robertson, and Davis families. There is no claim that the information in this site has been only collected by the site's author or that the information is correct. The material presented represent the best reconstruction of the facts with the information available. Other than members of the authors' immediate family information on living family members are not included on the site.

Site News

This site is still being actively developed, most links are complete as is the outlines of individual persons. The next stage is to complete  filling in the details of each person.

It is the intention that all sources of information will be attributed to those who originally supplied them but at this stage this is not complete. At this point in the development of the web site apart from the author there is the work of four other family researchers.  The web-site of John Millman http://www.btinternet.com/~johnmillman/spurgeons.htm  has been particularly valuable for the Spurgeon and Nash families, especially the more distant history, while that of Robin Tinkler http://www.cix.co.uk/~moshpit/gene/surnames.html helped rapidly fill in a lot of holes in the  Pentland tree. The work of Kate Kelly and Bill Pentland have been especially valuable in increasing and making the Pentland information more accurate.

More information has recently come available on the American descendents  of George and Harriet Pentland. This is still a series of personal communications rather than available for publication on the web.

Jan 2007 Considerable information has come available on the Heath and Reach parts of the Davis and Sear (Seer, Seers)  information this is being updated progressively. This has become possible because of the easy availability of English census material from 1841 to 1901 at various on-line sites..
