John Sundberg was born around 1850 in Finland and married to Mary Sofie A. John died 23 Dec 1920, in Aitkin Co., MN. Mary died on the 22 Nov. 1919 in Aitkin Co., MN. Notes for John: In 1895 he sent money to Finland for his wife, son, and daughter. They came by way of Canada and down to Duluth. When the three reach Tamarack, Marcus Nelson, who was a cruiser, took them all by a path through the woods southwest, to meet John, who made arrangements for them. Mr. Nelson accidently took them down a wrong trail. He had them stand where they were until he retraced his steps and found the right path. None of the family members could speak english or understand it. Young Amanda cried lustily, thinking they were left to die. Soon their guide returned, and led them to the right trail and in a short time they met John.
John and Mary had three children. They were Oscar J. Sundberg, Viktor Eland Sundberg, and Amanda Sundberg.
1. Oscar J. Sundberg was born about 1872 in Finland. He died on the 1 May, 1948 in MN. He married "Francis" Francisca E. Oman about 1902. Francis was born about 1875 in Finland and died on the 26 Feb, 1951 in MN. Notes for Oscar: Lived in Grayling, MN. Was in a Dairy Industry. Emmigrated about 1891. He and his father came to the Tamarack-Grayling community in the early 1890's, and built a log house on the northwest shore of Sheriff Lake.
Oscar and Francis had 7 children. They were Alvina Julia Sundberg, Hulda Amanda Sundberg, Olga Syrene Sundberg, Ellen May Sundberg, Martha Alina Sundberg, Bertha O. Sundberg, And Oscar William Sundberg.
-Alvina Julia Sundberg was born on the 31 Aug, 1902, in Spaulding Twnsp, Aitkin Co., MN. And Died on the 12 Feb 1993, in Grand Rapids, Itasca Co., MN. She married a Hjalmer Albert Hendrickson. He was born 22 May 1892, French Lake, MN. He died 21 May 1966, in Grand Rapids, Itasca Co., MN. Both Alvina and Hjalmer are buried at Pine Grove Cemetery, Max, Itasca Co., MN.
-Hulda Amanda Sundberg was born on the 6 Jan, 1904, in Spaulding Twnsp, Aitkin Co., MN. And Died on the 30 Nov, 1993, in MN. She is buried at Pine Grove Cemetery, Max, Itasca Co., MN. She never married.
-Olga Syrene Sundberg was born 13 Mar 1907 in Aitkin Co., MN. And died 30 May 1954, in MN. She is buried at Round Lake Cementary, in Tamarack, MN. She married Ralph Emerson Green on the 11 May, 1930. Ralph is also buried at Round Lake Cemetery, Tamarack, MN.
-Ellen May Sundberg was born 11 Jan 1909 in Aitkin Co., MN. She died Jul 1984. She never married.
-Martha Alina Sundberg was born 8 Aug 1911 in Aitkin Co., MN. She married a Roselair, and living in Polson Montana as of 1993.
-Bertha O. Sundberg was born 24 May 1913, in Aitkin Co., MN.
-Oscar William AKA "Bill" was born 23 Jul 1915 in Aitkin Co., MN. As of 2005 he was alive living Duluth, MN.
2. Viktor Eland Sundberg was born about 1878, in Finland. He Died on the 11 Apr, 1943, Aitkin Co., MN. He married Marie Alvina Olgars. She was born 3 Aug 1890, in Finland. She died 15 Nov 1973,Pine Co., MN.
Viktor and Marie had 5 children. They were Esther Alvina Sundberg, Evar Erland Sundberg, Hjardis Elvira Sundberg, Gunnar George Sundberg, and Ina M. Sundberg.
