My ancestor Reason PILCHER was born in Georgia about 1818.

Reason was married to Laurania GEORGE who apparently was born in Georgia. This information has been taken from the 1880 census where her son was a head of household. Her name is given on the funeral records of her daughter Mahala Sidney.  Reason is believed to have died in1865 in Cadoville, LA and his wife Anne, as she was known to family, died in 1846 in Georgia, according to family story, after giving birth to twin sons. You can see the transcription of his Succession here. Reason married Mary Elizabeth Green in Polk Co, TX on December 18, 1856. He married Mrs Elizabeth Gibson in Ouachita Parish LA 18 Feb 1865. Reason and Anne had seven children. It is unknown if he had children with the other wives.

 

Elizabeth A. was born about 1838 in Georgia and married a man by the name of Joe PHILLIPS.  They had four children:
    Charles Green b. 26 August 1861
    John G. b. 9 April 1863               ( I am not sure which
    Lillie A. b. 27 April 1863                year is correct)
    Samuel b. about 1873
(Gay Kinney is descended from this marriage)

 

Fathey Ann was born about 1840 in Georgia and married a man by the name of MOODY.  They had at least one child:
    Josiah Moody

 

John Wesley was born 4 Nov 1842 in Georgia. He married Anne T. ARTHUS and died 13 March 1911 in Sabine Parish, LA.  They had several children:

George Oscar Anderson,  Ross Edward Pilcher, Unnamed twin daughters (still born), Rollie Pilcher m. (1)Jeanette Zettle (2) Barbara,  Curtis Herman Pilcher m. (1) Christine Norris (2) Tine.  Robert Maxey m. (2) Campbell their children were:  Mable Pilcher m. Adrian Gandy, Lula Pilcher m. (1)Floyd Thomas, (2) Maxey (3) Walter Fontenot, Hoyt Pilcher, Pete Pilcher, Elmer Pilcher, Don Pilcher, Shirley Pilcher, Robert Pilcher, Billie Pilcher m. Lina Crowder,  Paul Pilcher m. (1)Datey (2) Phoebe

John Wesley was also married twice more.  To Hannah and to a woman who's initials were E.S.  There are no children of these unions known to me.

Mahala Sidney was born about 1841 in Georgia. She married a man by the name of Madison Matthew MOTHERSHED.  They had at least three children, Lanora Ann (had the name of Mothershed when she died) b.abt 1866 died 17 Sept 1928, Emery O. born 5 July 1880 died 13 August 1881and Ursula Leona born March 12, 1875 died 8 Nov 1889. Sidney died 4 July1928. She and the children are buried in Antioch Cemetery Louisiana. You can see scanned copies of the successions of Sidney and Lanora here.

 

Mary Ann was born about 1844 in Georgia, she is mentioned on the 1850 census of Ouachita Parish.  This is the only place I can find record of her.

 

Joseph Newton was one of twins born 18 Sept 1846 in Georgia. He married a woman by the name of Georgiann HUDSON.  They had three children:
    Edward b. abt 1870
    Charley b. abt 1876
    Erastus b. abt 1878

 

Thomas Jasper was the other twin. He married Martha Ann COOK.  He died in 1909 in Shreveport Caddo Parish LA.

Thomas wife Martha was born in AL Oct 1843 according to the 1900 LA census. Her father was born in NC and her mother, whose maiden name was WILSON was born in SC. Thomas and Mary were Baptists and they had seven children:

Rufus Wesley was born Feb 1869 in LA and he married Tishie SIMS.  They had six children:

    Rufus, Jr (also known as Bill)  b. 25 Apr 1895
    Howard b. 12 Sept 1898
    Julian O.  b. 12 Nov 1900
    Ernest   b. 22 Aug 1909
    Hermon  b. 22 Aug 1909
Rufus was also married to Jimmie Dumas with whom he had one child, Florene b. 28 Dec 1913

 

John Canada was born 11 Mar 1871 in LA and his first wife was Jennie O'NEILL.  They had one son, Falner b. 11 May 1894. He was also married to Mattie Nola Pinckard with whom he had three children:
    Paul Elton b. Nov 1919
    Mattie Viola b. Feb 1921
    Eunice Kerney b. June 1922

He died June 29, 1959

 

James Oliver was born 2 Jan 1876 in Lincoln Parish, LA. On 22 Feb 1899 he married Mattie Elizabeth LANGFORD in Yoakum Lavaca TX. He died 16 June 1970 in Marysville Yuba CA.

 

Dollie Lougene was born 11 Sept 1878 in LA. She married Daniel Lafayette MC CORKLE. She died in 1975 in LA. They had four children:

Samuel Wilson was born 20 Nov 1880 in LA and his wife's name was Allie. They had four children:

    Murrell

 

Curtis L. was born 14 Nov 1883. He was married to Ella PARKER. They had two children:
    Mary b. abt 1909
    Florence

 

Thomas Harvey was born 13 July 1886 in LA. He married Hattie Bell ELLIS on 24 Dec 1909 in TX and he died 14 Aug 1951 in Salem Marion OR.  They had four children:
    Bea
    JR
    Claude
    Irene
    Mattie Lou
    Blanche   
    Gene
    Tom   

  

James was a carpenter and a farmer. Growing up I remember him having a large garden in his back yard. He would grow vegetables and trade them at the store in town for other things that he needed. He did much of the research on my Pilcher family and for that I am grateful. He and Mattie had five children. They had two daughters that did not live more than one day.

Samuel Oliver was born 24 Dec 1901. He was a barber and his wife was Argail. He died 27 Sept 1936 in Yuma AZ. Sam and Argail had only one son named Eugene.

Henry Harvey was born 12 July 1904 in Tremont Lincoln Parish LA. On 15 Dec 1923, in Antlers Pushmataha OK, he married my grandmother, Mary Etta WINGFIELD. He died 30 Mar 1955 in Yuba City Sutter CA.

Eunice Emma was born 18 June 1912 and died 19 Dec 1912.

 

Henry was a mechanic. He and Mary owned a store and a beer bar south of Yuba City that was destroyed in the flood of 1955. I have a few memories of him and being behind the bar with him as he washed glasses. He and Mary had three children:

Charles Ray was born 22 Nov 1924 in Hugo Choctaw OK.    He married Antoinette Teresa Belleri on 15 Feb 1945 in Houston TX. He died 18 Dec 1996 of cancer. They have two sons, Raymond and James.

Virginia Rose, my mother, was born 18 Nov 1926 in Hugo Choctaw OK. She and my father Edgar Leonard GEE Jr. were married 16 Sept 1945 in Oakland Alameda CA. She died 9 Oct 1992 in Marysville Yuba CA of Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Mary Ruth was born 25 Mar 1936 in Littlefield Lamb TX. She married William Algar RAADE on 11 Aug 1956. They have six children, which include two sets of twins. They are living in Oregon.
