Youngblood Family
YOUNGBLOOD

From Darrell Polston

These were 3 of the sons of Joseph Youngblood, who came from Cocke Co., TN, in the late 1840's and died in Dallas Co., MO, early 1850's. One son, Joseph, Jr., remained in Dallas Co. and the others went to Parker Co., TX.

William married Elmina Fondren (ca. 1853-4); and had 3 kids before he was scalped by Indians in 1860 and buried in the Fondren Cemetery. (Initials only were given on the 1860 census and the film was very dim - looks like a son age 5; dau. 3; and son 1 - but I wouldn't swear to it). I don't know if Elmina remarried, or not - I understand she is also buried in the Fondren Cem.

Francis Marion married Mrs. Celia Osborn in 1850 Dallas Co., MO. and had one dau., Mary A., b. ca. 1854 in Parker Co., TX The last trace I have of them is the 1880 Parker Co.,census (soundex) - listed as M. (58) and C. (50); with a Louisa Stinnett (4), listed as step-dau. (probably should be granddau.). In 1900, I did find a F.M. Youngblood - age 75; b. TN, living with a Robert Cole on the Osage Indian Reservation, that I think is him. (Relation to Robt. Cole was given as boarder).

James L. married Mrs. Elizabeth Jane (Hensley) Cook, who's husband, C.C. Cook "was killed by Indians near Ft. Belknap". (I believe James was married before this, as there is a Youngblood son and a Cook step-son, both b. ca. 1859, altho in 1860, the wife of James appears to be "E.", age 25, b. Miss. --- and in 1870, Elizabeth is age 39, b. Miss.) His first 4 kids were:

(1).Celia - b. 19 Jan. 1855; md. Thomas C. Moore. I have a group sheet on her family from a Family Tree Maker disk - the (Moore) file submitted by Kathy Zamecki, but she has Celia's parents as William Joseph Youngblood and Elmina Fondren. This lists 7 children for Celia and Thomas C. Moore and Minerva Elmina (md. Robt. F. Hughes) is the 6th child on this.

(2). William A. - b. 5 June 1857; md. 1876 in Jack Co., TX to Sarah Ann Edwards. He died in 1884 and Sarah remarried to a Marion Dodd. Two Youngblood children - Joseph W. and Dora Jane.

(3) Joseph M. - b. Apr. 1859; md. 1884 to M. Amanda Cook. They had several kids and were in OK (I.T.) by 1900. I recently made contact with one of their dau-in-laws.

(4). James L., Jr. - b. ca. 1859/60; he and Joseph M. were living with bro., Wm. in 1880 - don't know where he went.

There appears to be 4 kids by 2nd wife, Elizabeth (Hensley) Cook: Pinckney Addison; Robin Rosena (md. J.B. Swetman); Virginia (md. E.F. Cheves), and Samuel H., 1879-1892, bur. in the Verner (Green Elm) Cem. in Jack Co., where his mother is also buried. She died in 1898.

The father of these Youngbloods, Joseph, Sr., was a nephew of my Jeremiah Youngblood.
