census-- from the 31st of May 1869 until the 1st of June 1870.  Being
reported on a mortality schedule for Polk County does not necessarily mean
the person died in Polk County. The death may have taken place while the
family was in another location before their move to Polk County.

    I find on looking over this list that most of the deaths occurred on a large creek running through the
county called Big Sandy and on the Trinity River.  They both have large bottoms and it is a low malaria
