LegettCem
   Legett Cemetery
In the
Oakdale Community

The cemetery is located in the Oakdale community north of Livingston, Polk Co., TX.  It is composed
of  land donated first by the Jesse Legett family in the late 1800's and land donated by Grady and Dell
Brock Williams in the 1990's.

There are approximately sixty graves, several of which are unnamed but marked.  These graves were
marked with concrete fieldstones in the late 1950's by Russell Flynn Thomas, Sr.

There is an oral history of a mass grave with as many as fourteen individuals who died in an epidemic
among Polk County Lumber Company employees at Buck in the early 1900's.
There is no physical trace of such a grave.

The cemetery was inventoried by Joe Howard Thomas and Linda Thomas, July 3, 2000
The inventory begins with the west side of the cemetery.
Each row is inventoried from south to north and progresses east.
