Family History
I am researching my
Paternal Great Grandparents and their ancestry. My Great
Grandfather is Henry (Henrique) Alexander de Freitas, son of
Manuel de Freitas of Funchal. Henry was born in St. Vincent
and later moved to Trinidad. My Great Grandmother was
Jessimina d'Abreu of Trinidad. I know little else, except
that her father was most likely from Madeira. For more info
check out my website above.

Ferreira,
Jo-Anne S.
Surnames:
FERREIRA, de FREITAS, de SOUZA, VASCONCELLOS, VIEIRA and
SABINO
email: jsferreira@yahoo.com
Home Page:
My father's paternal
grandparents were João (John) Ferreira (c.
1850-1918) and Emiliana Theresa de Freitas (1872-1959).
John was born in Madeira, and we know nothing about him,
except that he had several shops. Emiliana was born in
Demerara, Guyana (formerly British Guiana), and was the
daughter of Henry, and sister of John, James (Jimmy) and
Marie (married to Arthur Winter, Sr.).
My father's maternal
grandparents were Manuel Vasconcellos de Souza
(1874-1926) and Mary Eugenia Vieira Sabino (1885-1954).
Manuel was born in Machico, and came to Trinidad either
in the late 19th century or early 20th. His sister,
Christina migrated to Trinidad as well. They left behind
at least 2 brothers. We have traced back to their
great-grandfather, João de Sousa, also of Machico.
Mary Eugenia was born in Trinidad, and had 2 brothers and
2 sisters. Their father, Francis Sabino, was born in
Guyana (and had at least one sister). Her mother, Mary
Vieira, came to Trinidad from Madeira as a child (with
three sisters and a brother).

Serrao,
Keith Angela
Surnames:
CORRIERA, SERRAO
email: keiserrao@aol.com
Home Page:
I am trying to trace my roots on my
father's paternal side. My father's name was John Arthur
Ulric Serrao. He was born in Village No. 78 to his mother, Agnes Carmichael,
around 1905. His father was either the Postmaster or Stationmaster
(never got it right) at Hopetown. My grandfather, John's father, also
lived in Buxton. I believe that my father also spent some time at
Buxton visiting his relatives. My father also worked for many years
at the Bauxite company in McKenzie then left for Trinidad at the beginning
of the forties. My grandfather's sister whose name was "Amanda" married
a gentleman whose surname was "Corriera". My father's first wife's
name was Elma Carter from Buxton, who then moved to Kitty. They had
four children. I don't need any information on these children as I
am aware of their whereabouts. Any information on this family would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
