Battle of Iwo Jima

This is a picture of Daddy and his Navy unit in WWII. The sign above the shop says "Radio Radar & Electrical Shop". This picture could have been made in California after he completed his training, but I have always thought it was taken on Iwo Jima. Daddy was in the US Navy from April 4, 1944 until November 4, 1945. On Iwo Jima he served in CASU 52, attached to the 5th Marine Division. He was an Aviation Electrician's Mate Third Class. In other words, he was an aircraft machanic. In California, before he shipped out for Iwo Jima, he served at Twenty-Nine Palms.

Restored and LARGER version of this photo.
