"Disturbingly Believable" This story, the latest in the series with ex CIA operative Jack Ryan, now thrust into the role of POTUS (President of the United States), is full of global intrigues, all designed to bring about the destruction of the USA. Biological
Warfare, espionage, anarchy, terrorism, all in one book could be an 'overkill', excuse the pun, but in this large tome by Tom Clancy, all are woven into a gripping novel that had me wondering sometimes what was fact and what was fiction - entirely believable. Although a bit slow at times, in fact I must confess to skimming some parts, overall this book left me looking forward to the next episode in the life of Jack Ryan, President of the United States.
This is it. Every author's dream. The number one best seller of all time. Really a collection of books written by many different authors over a period of many hundreds of years. The first group of books -
the Old Testament - tell the story of a creator bound by His own ethics of righteousness and truth, and his finest creation, humankind, who rebels against Him with the greatest gift of creation, free will, and a desire to usurp the creator's position. A creation that the creator is fully entitled to wipe out but, because of His great love and compassion, He devises a plan of redemption for this creation to live again as He intended.
The
creator's own righteousness demands the death penalty for humankind so He sends His own Son to pay the ultimate price. This is the story told by the second group of books, the New Testament. This Son, the historical Jesus of Nazareth, fully human and fully God, meets all
the criteria of the creator and gives up His own life as a payment for the rebellion of all humankind. Like a man locked up in jail, if offered freedom because someone else has paid his penalty for him, he still has to accept the gift of freedom or he remains forever locked up. So the total fulfillment of humankind is bound up in receiving the gift of the creator's Son. This is a book that has to be read to be believed.
As a collection stories, this collection, the Bible, has it all. It must be good, it is the most enduring book of all time, has had more impact on civilizations than any other, and has the excitement of being totally relevant to the past, the present, and the future, and most of
all, to you. It's a life changer. Take my recommendation, read it for yourself, now!
