This information is compiled from pay voucher records, muster rolls and personal genealogical information that I have collected over the years.  The pay vouchers and some other data, such as; widows pension applications maybe found on micro-film at the Tennessee State Library & Archives in Nashville, Tennessee.

I also consulted with the books:

Every effort was made to locate information on all known members of these regiments and companies but some of them I could not locate or learn more about them or their families.

Information contained herein is primarily intended to assist those seeking genealogical information as well as a taste for the hardships, etc. that these individuals endured trying to survive during the War Between the States 1861 - 1865.

Shucraft/Shewcraft, may I offer some modifications to the information you posted regarding Hencin Shucraft. His brother, James Wesley Shewcraft who married Susan Strother, was my great grandfather. Hencin Shucraft/Shewcraft was my great great uncle. I certainly understand how one could misintrepert James W. Shuccraft/Shewcraft as being the father, because Hencin was living with his brother, James W., in the Sumner County 1850 Census, Dist. 18, p. 216. In this Census, James W., big brother is 25, his wife, Susan, is 24, and Hencin is 17, eight and 9 years age difference respectively.James W. and Hencin L. were sons of John Shucraft/Shewcraft of Sumner County and unknown wife. Hencin L. married Ellen Elliott on 31 October 1859, acccording to Sumner County marriage records, after he had purchased land in Arkansas. His Service record on file at TSLA, reveals that he deserted his unit in December 1862. I have wondered if he had been wounded, which could have contributed to his early death, and simply went home. No record of same. Anyway, he died on 22 September 1864 and is buried in the Elliott Cemetery in Sumner County located: 2 8/10 mi North of Gallatin on Dobbins Pike, then 1 3/10 mile NorthWest of Rutledge Lane on the west side of the road in a thicket.
