The report of the Commissioners of Poor was read and
ordered to be recorded which is as follows viz
Honorable County Court Sumner County
The commissioners met and selected J.L. Shaw Superintendent for the year
1882. Our contract with him was the same as the year previous (see contract)
on the first day of March we hired J.D. Shaw for $12.50 per month and board
himself

This was paid to J.L. Shaw for services as Superintendent
Bought of John Roberts 1500 chestnut rails? For which we paid $1.75 per hundred
which amount was paid him in produce from the farm. For current expenses

Poor House expense reduced in the last year about $200. All of which is
respectfully submitted Oct 28, 1882

The report of the Commissioners of the Poor was read

The commissioners met and selected T.P. Denning Superintendent for the year
1883. We contracted to pay him $200 in money. He is to make a hand on the
farm and doing such other business as the commissioners required of him.
He was allowed to keep one cow two horses he is to feed his horses only when
employed on the County farm
