Our Mission is to provide "FREE" Genealogical & Family information on the interenet. This is a group of people who have devoted a large amount of time & skill in providing 40,000's records of Names, with various, Census, Death, Marriage, Deeds, Wills, etc and other various records for your use, to make a "Connection" with your Ancestor. We cannot/donot guarantee the accuracy of this information. As in good Genealogical practices it's up to the researcher to check and verify with the "primary" record source to determine that said accuracy. We have given you a lot of REF: Number and page numbers to make your research easier. See some of our Click on Redball for More Info.<--- Howto  files, weather you are a long-time researcher or just starting out. Remember part of Genealogy is "Sharing" and having a good time doing it.
If we have any "Living Person" and you want them removed, just send me a E-Mail with URL address, Name's etc and I will remove same. We have used without absolute proof, circumstantial evidence, both legally and genealogically, has been allowed in certain conclusion that and we will conceded when any other proof of the opposite is provided, which is both logical and reasonable and not opposed by any other evidence...Paul R.  I just finished looking through all the marriage files posted on the South Carolina GenWeb page. On behalf of everyone else searching for a link to an ancestor, I want to extend my thanks!
I wasnt fortunate enough to find the names I was looking for (my great great grandfather Thomas G. Evans and his first wife Mary Rountree) and was hoping you might be able to direct me to other marriage records.
Its just a guess, but I think Thomas and Mary were married in South Carolina sometime during the late 1830s to early 1840s.
Again, thanks for the great work youve done.

WOW, today i stumbled across this site while making a quick e-check on the spelling of "oehler" as in "oehler drug." it was in reference to e-correspondence with a high school classmate of mine about clarinda. we graduated from chs in 1964. how come the 1965 photos look so OLDE TYME?!? (don't even think about answering that!)
this is quite the treasure. thanks to those responsible for taking the original photos and to those who had the insight to share them online!

What a wonderful service you have provided to those of us living on the West Coast ( WA State).
I've just found this site and am so excited about being able to access this kind of history. Thank you!
I've found a number of names already that are in my family line: Noble, Tucker, Bond, etc.
And I have an adopted daughter and someday wish to do search for her line, as well. And her father was a Middleton.

I want to take a minute to thank you for the contributions that you have made to the South Carolina web archives. I know that I would not have found some information if it were not for your sharing your files with others.
My ancestors settled in SC as early as the mid 1600's. I live in PA and only get to hunt through records that I rent at the local Family History Center. You have made that job a whole lot easier.

THANK YOU!
Dear Paul,
I have found your work on the Internet and am really impressed with the work you have put into it. I have been working on my genealogy for about a year, and have made some progess through the census records at the Anderson County Library, but not much more than that.
I am William D. McClellan, 1933- , youngest son of Van Patrick McClellan 1875-1950, youngest son of William Claiborne McClellan 1831- ??, son of David McClellan 1797(approx.) and before this date, I am having problems. I do have a will of a David McClellan, carpenter, to wife Elizabeth (no children mentioned) dated 1739.
In your work from the old 1779 census (was this a local or state census?) I found two William McClellan's and want to find out if they are ancestral relatives.
I do want to trace my ancestry back to my immigrant ancestor who came from either Ireland or Scotland and I am familiar with the McClellan's of Kirkurdbright, Scotland and hope to visit Scotland before my demise.
If you can offer me any suggestions in tracing my ancestry from my Grandfather and great Grandfather whom I find in the census images of 1850 in the Anderson district census, it would be greatly appreciated.
It is unusual that I can go back so far in so few generations due to the fact that I am the youngest son and my father was the youngest son of old parents.
Thank you for the work you have done which I am enjoying and for any help you can offer me in tracing my ancestors back to the immigrant ancestor.
Sincerely, William D. McClellan

Thanks for the quick reply to my email. If I had read farther then I wouldn't have had to bother you because found lot of websites you had listed. However, I wouldn't have had the Family Group Sheet that you sent so could fill out for my family I am looking for---Holt.
My friend was excited about the information I got for him because of you plus now has found out that his wife's ex husband's family had some Indian blood in him, making her children so. He is looking for the Platt. I have always been interested in the Indian side of our world plus the pain, suffering they went thru when the "white" came over here. Just goes to show that we are "all God's children" as little 6 year old girl sang at our church last night "God loves all the little children of the world, yellow, red, black, they are precious in His sight".
Best, Nell

Mr. Sarrett,
I would like to thank you for all the wonderful work you have done for the Orange County, North Carolina genweb project. I don't know if you still have access to this data or if you would even be willing to entertain requests, but if you do and would, I would be very grateful for your time.
I live in Tennessee and do not have access to the census of North Carolina. In particular, I am trying to find the family information on the Huffines listed in the 1810 Orange County NC census. They are listed on pages 120 and 145. The name is spelled Huffhines, Huffines, Hufhines, and Hufines. The given names of those individuals are Jacob, Daniel, P., and Jacob, respectively. I am attempting to segregate my ancestor from his nephew of the same name and approximate age who also lived in North Carolina at the same time. Their family information is the only hope I have of being able to do this.
If you could help me at all with this I would truly appreciate it. If not, I totally understand and thank you for your time.

I just ran across your gedcom on Rootsweb---with email address--and it occurs to me that I really should thank you for all the census records you've put in the genweb archives--that I've used on many occasions, in many different places! Often, I'll have a census record and think, mmm, that doesn't look right. Well, I'll check the archives--I think Paul Sarrett has done that one. I can't imagine the untold hours you spent doing that!
Actually, I think we also have at least one family in common--Masons. It seems to me I've seen a query or posting that indicated that. I'm descended from Ford Mason in Gwinnett GA--son of Broderick-- and I KNOW you contributed those Spartanburg census records because just recently Walter Mason sent me some deeds and tax lists that suggested strongly that Mary Broderick remarried a John Giddings in Culpeper after James Mason's death--so I went to your Spartanburg census and sure enough, there was John Giddings on the same page with Francis Mason. I haven't done much on Masons recently--have been working on the whole Calthorpe/Coltharp family in America--one big gedcom as you have done for Sarratt/SarrettSurratt (SFA).
Anyhow--I thought you might like to know that at least one soul out here REALLY appreciates all you've done for genealogy on the internet!

for helping me find the above Williams grandson. I have been searching for years for information about Rebecca Lemmons Winchester. While going thru the USGenWeb Archives came across your posting of the early SC information. Went thru it all, looking for William info, had only one more to go, and thought --why not. I've looked at all the others, might as well look at Greenville while I'm here, know there won't be anything there for me, but -----AND THERE WAS Jonathon Winchester 1830 in Greenville, not far away was Rev. Isaac Lemmon. I was ecstatic!!!!! I knew Jonathon and Rebecca had married ca 1830, didn't know where or when. Had NO IDEA he might be in Greenville, have no idea why, but there he was. Thank you!!!!! We wondered what become of Hugh B. Hemphill we have found him in the census of 1860 in York County. Then in the Yorkville Enquirer when his infant son died. Then he totally disappeared. We accidentally found his wife and son Samuel Hemphill in LaFayette Mississippi. I was wondering what happened, if he was in the war or just up and ran off. We have a fair connection from Robert Hemphill & Miss Stewart buried in the BETHEL CEMETERY in York County S.C. to our present day Hemphills located in Texas & California and Oklahoma. We also got information from YCGHS March 1991 in a Barber Family letter which mentioned some of our Hemphills. It was contributed by a Roma I Weir that I lost her address. I have another page copied from YCGHS September 1994 That listed the Bethel Presbyterian as one of the oldest congregation of York County. Has the Bethel Cemetery ever been listed in a book?
Any info would be greatly appreciated and We would glady share any that we have.

Dear Paul,
I am researching my father's family tree and am finding a plethora of information through the SC Gen Web pages. I can't thank you enough for all of your input as I see your name come up just about everywhere. I live in Boston and its rather difficult as you may imagine trying to research long distance. So you can imagine how excited I was to happen upon all the records that are available online. My biggest challenge is to pin down my grand and great grand parents specifically and then find them on the Dawes Rolls as the Cherokee bloodline is not known absolutely enough by the remaining elders on my dad's side. I came across a link but the AOL msg said it could not be found on the server. I beleive it was "Paul Sarrett's Native American Cherokee Researching Tips Home Page". Can you send me the correct URL? This is the link listed on the homepage "Union County,SC Geneology HomePage", Great Links to Other Pages, under the Ethnic,Regional, and Religious Geneological Web Sites. This looks like info I would surely benefit from.
Thanks Paul again for all the fabulous work you've done, you've made things so much easier for me. By the way, I haven't been able to find any Census online for Laurens County. Do you know if one exists? Thanks Paul, I really appreciate it.
Have a great day!

Thank you so much for providing this (SC Marriages) information. I found the marriage of my gg-grandfather and gg-grandmother. Only thing, her maiden name is listed as the same as my gg-grandfather. Could be. Must look futher. Do the newspaper articles usually state personal information, such as father and mother or other relatives of the couple getting married or does it just give the bare facts.
Another words, would it be worth my while to order a copy of the article from the archives or would it not give any other information than what you have provided.
Thank you again. You have gotten me one step closer.

Just a note to say thanks for all the information you have contributed to the Internet - like the 1778-79 census for the Ninety-six District of SC. I am researching Abercrombies from the 1700s in what is now Laurens County SC and your information has been very helpful. I am grateful for your very generous contributions.

Hi Paul,
First my compliments and admiration for your new recrords file contributions ! What a gift to those looking for their past. Congratulations on such a wonderful piece of work.
I am still searching away for info about Huskeys in the Gaffney/Spartanburg area. My cohort Robert E. Huskey has put together a website for us ....htttp://members.aol.com/huskeyl1/index.html ...that pretty much tells what we're up to. I am going to be in Gaffney this week and plan to visit with Shirley Huskey Roberts of Greenville.. She is in the same line with Robert and I along with a J. C. Huskey who lives in Bowling Green, KY. We are the only ones we're aware of that are working on this particular family...more's the pity. You can look at it from a link on our page http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/h/u/s/robert-e-huskey/gene4-000/.html . I know you have Huskey's but I don't know how they fit into your family. I think that some of Shirley's relatives are Sarratts/Sarritt, you may have already talked with her. She's not done any of her research online and has been working on it for years. Can you send me info on your Huskey's? I would very much like to see it before I meet with Shirley.
Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi:
I have spent the last 2 hours surfing the marriage records of S.C. I have found more BACOT surnames here than I have found on the entire net. Of course I have probably missed a little on the net. But I wanted to thank you for all of your hard work, and for giving me access to more BACOT surnames.
Just a note to say thank you, and hope all of the BACOT names I found are related. I should be so lucky.

Paul,
I'd like to thank you for all the hard work you have done , submitting the info to share with others. I have gone thru your marriages and found alot of names that are probably my husbands family,I only wish you were researching some of my surnames. Perhaps you could give some advice on how to find a 1801 SC birth. Since I'm in Fl I don't have access to everything in SC but hope for a trip to the Charleston area this summer. The only info I have is John B. Witter b. SC 1801. Not much to go on. Since I found him in NYC in 1850 it's very hard to trace him. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Mr. Sarrett,
Sir - I applaud your commendable work on the southern colonies. I have used your material to research ancestors and have made some promising hits that make sense. The reason I am writing is to get your recommendations on a book that provides good regional history of Virginia through Georgia during the Colonial period up through about 1835 or so. I have some marvelous material about the family but I would enjoy a text that puts it all into perspective. I am a 1963 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. While history courses were not the total emphasis of the curriculum, they managed to give us an appreciation of history, not only in terms of what happened at which place, but implications on what we experience today. I find that it is important to realize that, not only was that ancestor in that place at that time, but to realize what was going on about them in the world. I am a descendant of the Kuykendalls, who figured in the battle at King's Mountain. I am ashamed to say that, in all my trips to South Carolina, that I have not visited the site - which I hope to rectify in the next trip down there. I love the history around Pendleton and Clemson, where I visit at least twice a year. Knowing that my ancestors are part of that glorious history is heart-warming. Enough reminiscences. I would appreciate any recommendations you could give on regional history to round out the conceptions.
Yours cordially,
Bill Green

Second, I need some help finding something. Two times, while searching through the marriage records, a site came up that had 1800 and 1810 census information. It had a "go to a higher directory", a ". and .." etc. Do you know what I am talking about? HOW DO I FIND IT AGAIN?
Thank you,

Paul,
How perfectly wonderful you are! I certainly don't mean to be persnickety, but I know that many indexes are labors of love, but can contain many errors, due to the handwriting on some of the old sheets.
Another one was that of James H. Due which was listed on one index as James H. Deese. Had my daughter not known the names of his wife and children, we would not have been able to find him.
Thank you so much, and my grgrgrandfather thanks you also. And on behalf of the many, many people who have been priviledged to use your lists, thank you for all your hard work. It is deeply appreciated.

You must be the most knowledgable person in the US on SC!! I keep running into your name and thank you PROFUSELY for having loaded on the SC Colony text a few years ago...helped me enormously!!
My families are the Robert Coleman's and the John Gibbs, both (or parts of which) migrated to Tryon, only to find they were really in SC. My ancestry includes 2 of the Coleman dau's(sisters of Christopher of the Pacolet River area) Lucy married Thomas Draper before they left Mecklenburg Co, VA, I don't know when or where her younger sister, Frances Coleman, married Zacharias Gibbs - son of John, and a Loyalist in Old 96 Dist. Since Lucy's son, Daniel, married Frances' daughter, Susanne Philipe Gibbs (lst cousins) and I descend from them, I've been working hard for years trying to straighten out the children of Robert Coleman --so far all I'm sure of is Lucy, Frances, Christopher, and Robert. Records do not seem to abound - unless you've found additional sources not in big libraries. I have found papers on the whole Loyalist problem- his letters to parliament, and also letters from Nova Scotia, so I don't need to confirm who Zach was --I know! Any suggestions about where to look for the actual Coleman family?

Dear Paul Surratt,
Thank you so very much for all the work you have done to provide records/info for so many others doing genealogical research in SC. I have been researching my Conn and Hardin lines and your census records are invaluable. If there is anything I can ever do to help you (I can't imagine what it would be), please let me know. I do have few original letters from Conns and Smiths in, as they put it, South Carolina York District to Conns who had moved from Chester/York, SC to McNairy, TN. The dates are: Apr, 1852; Dec, 1852; Feb, 1853; Mar, 1854; and Jun, 1857. There is also a letter from John (I. or T.) Minter who had moved to Hutchison, Reno County, Kansas written to Samuel Conn on Jul 26, 1878. Mr. Minter had obviously lived in SC when Samuel Conn did. Most of these letters refer to other persons still in York/Chester Co. If these are of any interest to you, please contact me. Thanks again,

We've been researching the Waldrop/Waldrup families in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties, SC, and Rutherford County, NC. Nothing has been more valuable than the early census records of these counties that are available online because of your efforts. Thank you very much for all your hard work. We want you to know that all of us appreciate your efforts. You've saved us many hours, days, and months sitting in front of a microfilm reader trying to decipher the hand writing of those early census takers. You've made that part of our research very easy.
Keep up the good work.

Dear Paul,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! for making the "early South Carolina Marriage Records" available!!!! Thanks to you, we have finally been able to locate not my husband's maternal ancestors all the way back to 1700 (Gaillard and Dupre).
We are SO excited. My husband's grandmother, Virginia Lewis (daughter of Annie Dupre/Gaillard/Lewis and Zimri Henri Lewis), is especially grateful: she is 95 years old and is very proud of her family as far as that knowledge goes, but it just didn't go back as far as she would have liked. She had pretty much given up hope of learning any more about her family, but now, thanks to you, she has a lot more information. We just can't thank you enough for the research and effort you must have invested in order to make these files available, not to mention the typing time! HOW can we show our thanks?
May the Lord richly bless you, as you have blessed us!
Sincerely,
Susan Wyatt, wife of John Wyatt, son of Barbara Hoeppner, daughter of Virgina Lewis, daughter of Annie Dupre Gaillard, daughter of James Gaillard, son of Charles Gaillard (and Ann Dupre), son of ? (but we will know soon!)

Dear Paul,
I want to thank you for all the information you have made accessable through your web site. I live in Connecticut and it is so difficult to get southern source material in this area, so your information for SC researchers is invaluable. I can only imagine the work you have put into these projects - I just want you to know that there are many of us out here that really appreciate it.
I have downloaded several of your files and printed them off - I then put them in a comb bound booklet for future reference as I search for these illusive ancestors.
I wish I could in some way repay you for all your hard work and effort but, unfortunately, I am not researching any of the same family names that you are.
