SEARCHES FAMILY TREES MAILING LISTS MESSAGE BOARDS

Welcome to my journey in my Quest for my family history and kinships.

There was a time while growing up in Locust Fork, Alabama  that everyone seemed to be related to one of two families: the Tidwell's or McCay's and these families inter-married quite often. In my early childhood and before Locust Fork began to "grow", it seems I was related to just about everyone in the community in some way. I had several teachers and classmates in elementary and high school that I was told I was related to but didn't know how (and at the time I didn't care). Now that I have "matured", I am curious to know who my "kinfolks" are and to try to learn a little something about them and their life stories and family histories.  Please feel free to share with me.

It seems it was common knowledge, or at least the belief that,  there were at least three unrelated Tidwell families and at least two unrelated McCay families.  I began my family history project in July, 1999 with the goal of determining the relationship of all those unknown cousins and to try to prove or disprove the "unrelated families" theory. In Sept. 2000, I discovered a link that tied two of the previously "unrelated" Tidwell families together.

The primary surnames in my research line include Tidwell, Fendley/Findley, Robinett(e) and McCay

I invite you to join with me in the Quest for my family history and help unravel the mysteries. I'll be adding to and improving this site as time goes on and as new items are collected so be sure to visit again.  Although I am currently taking an extended break from active research I continue to solicit family trees and family histories so please feel free to share with me.  You will find a link to my e-mail address below.
