Subject: Photos in Steele Roundtable - About the picture of Sippi and James; The person with them is their son Harry Aliff, Roy Lee's older brother. I met Harry only once when I was very young, at Roy Lee's funeral in Huntington in 1966, so I couldn't say for sure. My dad remembers his uncle Harry well, and was able to immediately identify him.

Subject: Steeles & Samples - Looking for info on Lydia Steele b. cal743 d.l775, dau of Rev John Steel b. l716 d. l779, she married Robert Sample/Semple cal763. Of their 5 children, I am particularly interested in their son Steele Sample b. 26 Aug l768. Any info would be appreciated.

Subject: Samuel Lemuel Steele of PA - Looking for Samuel (poss. Lemuel) Steele of PA, said to be PA Dutch, coal miner and m. to Barbara Elizabeth Is(h)mael.=-no dates. One child was John R. (poss. Riley) b. abt 1836 m. and had a son John Riley Steele b. abt 1866.All this is just oral family history. Real true stuff: my maternal grfather was Thomas Alex Steele b. 1896 in Waverly MO or Bristleridge MO. His mother was Mary Ann Combs Steele dtr of James Combs & Mary Jane McCurry Steele. Can anyone help me with info here? Earlier Steele's may have been in IL and/or IN before going to MO.

Subject: Steeles from Carlisle, Pa. - I am a direct descendant of Rev. John Steele, born in Ireland, came to US in 1744 to Carlisle, PA. He and his wife stayed in Carlisle, raising seven children including John Steele II. Rev. Steele was a chaplain in the Colonial Army and his son was Capt. John Steele, during the Revolution. Rev. Steele was a Presbyterian minister at the Carlisle Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, and John Steele II and his wife, Agnes Moore, are all buried in the Old Cemetary in Carlisle Pa. Do any of these fit anyone's Steele lines?

Subject: Steeles and Aliffs - Hello from Roy E. (Gene) Aliff. I live in Westminster, Maryland but am originally from Barboursville, W.Va. I am the great-great grandson of George and Edith Jane [Meadows] Steele. I am the great grandson of James E. Aliff and Sippie C. Steele. Their son, Roy Lee Aliff married Naomi Marie Jefferson (my grandparents). Their eldest son, Roy Alvin Aliff is my father. I am married to Pattii Renee Anderson (03-30-59) and have an eight-year old daughter named Rhiannon Victoria Aliff. I have other family info, but I am at work and it is not at my fingertips. These are the dates I know for sure: Roy Lee Aliff - died 1966, Huntington W.Va.; Naomi Marie [Jefferson] Aliff died 1986; Roy Alvin Aliff 01/28/30 - still living, has one brother Wayne Aliff, and one sister Naoma Aliff Wayne has three boys, Ronald, Jack and Richard, and a daughter Cathy. Myself - 12/30/59 - alive, but sometimes questionable. My daughter, born 07/24/89. More later...please feel free to contact me. Subject: James Steele of Ohio - I am searching for a James Steele of Ohio or his family. My grandfather, Earl Eldridge Spear, had a sister Ruby. Ruby married or had a child to ______Steele. This child was James Steele. They resided in the Roseville, Oh area in early 1920's. Anyone with any information on this person, please e-mail. Ruby Spear was the daugher of Andrew Oscar Spear and Jennie (Mercer) Spear. Ruby was possibly born in Marietta, OH in the 1890's.
