Has anyone found Thomas Steel's father?
Records show a Thomas Steel born to:
George Steel & Isabella Robinson in Beaumont, Cumberland, England
William Steel & Isabel Johnston in Coldingham, Berwick, Scotland
Thomas Steel & Janet Archibald in Liberton, Midlothian, Scotland.
All were born in 1876.
I have history from there on if any one needs.

This is my line and I would love access to it because in the books I have found information about most of the descendants trail off around the early 1800's.

STEEL/STEELE - BLAIR(?) - SITIRS(?)
Doing research on the PERRY STEEL/STEELE family (born in Maryland or Pennsylvania around 1814) and moved to Centre Co., Spring Twp, Pennsylvania by the 1840 census where he is listed at the same address as a Francis Steel (relationship unknown). Francis Steel is listed also on the 1830 Census for the same location but Perry is not listed at all. By the 1850 census, Perry is listed as living in Centre County, Bellfontone, Pennsylvania with his wife, ELIZA (Unknown) (b1817 PA). Their nine children, all born in Pennsylvania were:
Family then moved by the 1860 census to Milesburg, Pennsylvania. The son, 24 year old Harvey was listed as "Head of Household," and living with his father, Perry but the mother, Eliza is missing. Other unknown people living in the houshold, all born in Pennsylvania, except Peggy Blair are:
Our great Grandfather, THEOPHILLIS STEEL (b1853), son of Perry Steel married MARGARET E. (Unknown) (b1853 PA) and in the 1900 census his family is shown as living in Westmoreland County, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Their children, all born in Pennsylvania were listed as:
In addition to family members in the 1900 census for Theophillis Steel, the following people were listed:
Our Grandfather DANIEL HASTING STEELE, called BUDD STEELE was born in 1893 in Centre County, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. Daniel married our Grandmother, GRACE AMANDA BAHR (1894-1975), daughter of WILLIAM JOSEPH BAHR (1871-1953) and AMANDA A. GARMAN (1875-1943) of Stark County, Jackson Twp., McDonaldsville, Ohio and after they were married, they moved to Summit County, Northfield Village, Ohio.

I have the one of the original bibles of Jeremiah Wilkinson Steele, given to me by a cousin that lives in Morgan Co., Kentucky. I also have his sons' George Washington Steeles journal. Some of the pages are very hard to read. I have old letters written by George Steele, and I have his wifes bible, which was given to her by her father -- her name was Margaret Kilgore. I have a copy of the Lockhart Bible, the original is in my great uncle hands, he is having binding restored, it is very old, it belonged to Jeremiahs wifes grandfather. I plan on submitting the information to the Steele Repository, so that everyone can use it. I am planning a trip in the fall to Morgan County, Kentucky to pick up original photos of Jeremiah & Marthas, along with other old photos, and a great aunt is still living down there, and she is going to give me a few other items. So I will let everyone know what I have and I will post all the information to the list. Until next time...

Response - Tamara, I don't know of a thing. Tammy Dyer mentioned something about a year or so ago about wanting to have one, so maybe if several of us get our heads together we can plan one for next year. I've never been involved in one, but I know it's a lot of work requiring a lot of advanced planning. I'll see what kind of interest I can stir up for one in Virginia or one of the neighboring states. Thanks.

Subject: Steeles from Washington, D.C. - Dear Jodi, Your name keeps popping up whenever I do these Steele family searches. I have been searching for relatives on my father's side of our family. My father (Millard F. Steele, Jr.) was born in Washington D.C. 10/12/15 to Millard F. Steele, Sr. & Catherine Stieren. Millard F. Steele, Sr.'s parents were George M. Steele, Sr. and Georgie A. Steele. My Grandmother separated from her husband and brought my father back to St. Paul, MN shortly after he was born. Consequently my father never knew his father and only has a few letters from his grandfather, George M. Steele, Sr. His grandfather, George & Georgie (his wife) moved from Washington D.C. to Philadelphia, PA where George Sr. was living in l930. George M. Steele Sr. and his wife Georgie had four children: George M. Steele, Jr., Elsie C. Steele (Roche), Marie F. Steele (Stauffer) and my grandfather, Millard F. Steele, Sr.
I have a picture of my grandmother taken with her mother-in-law the summer before my Dad was born. On the back of the picture it says summer at Chesapeake Bay. So these Steele's summered at Chesapeake Bay, lived in Washington, D.C. and a decade or so later were all living in Philadelphia, except for their son, George Jr. who was by that time living in New York City. I have the married names of the two daughters and several letters written to my Dad from his grandfather. Once his grandfather passed away, there was no further contact from the Steele family. This is a big blank for me and I have been longing to fill it.
If any of this means anything to you, Jodi, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks again!!

I have found out that Alonzo L. Steele had a middle initial and he came from West Virginia. He was born on or about 1871 and the girl he married, Blanche Ethel Goodwin was from Minnesota and was born on or about 1874.
Can we add this to the pot?

Response - Bill, It's best to send any information you think others might benefit from directly to the STEELE List. Second choice is submit to the Steele National Repository or Steele's Genealogy Roundtable. Third choice is directly to me. Regardless of how it's submitted, however, I will make every effort to get it published in the right places. Thanks.
Anyone out there have more info on a name they recognize?
