Subject: Steele family move abouts in 1800's - Has anyone figured out who moved where when that we got spread all over the place? I have records going back to birth in Germany in 1682 and migration to U.S. to upstate NY in 1747. They had a land patent and founded my hometown. This is a part of the taught settlement of NY in elementary school. I have most of the NY branch figured out but I have been told of a Richard that moved to Michigan? in 1800-ish. How did the family get into Tennesee, Carolinas and Virginias? It looks to me like there were Steeles (Stahls) on both sides of the Civil War. Does anyone else's records confirm or contradict this?

Also two sisters Mrs. Ellen Palmer (Black Walnut, PA) and Mrs. Edith Moore (Muncy, PA). His parents names were Bertram(?) Steele and Anne (Junk?) Steele (late 1800s). Subject: My Steele Search - Hello Fellow "Steele" Searchers, I am searching for my Steele relatives also. My father (Millard F. Steele, Jr.) was born in Washington D.C. 10/12/14 to Millard F. Steele, Sr. & Catherine Stieren. My grandmother, Catherine, separated from her husband and brought my father back to St. Paul, MN shortly after he was born. Consequently my father never knew his father (who died a few yrs later) and only has a few letters from his grandfather, George M. Steele, Sr. George & his wife, Georgie had four children: George M. Steele, Jr., Elsie C. Steele (Roche), Marie F. Steele (Stauffer) and Millard F. Steele, Sr. (my grandfather). Georgie Steele died on 2/22/24 in Washington, D.C. and in 1930, George Sr., and his daughters Elsie, and Marie were living in Philadelphia, PA. George, Jr. was living in New York City.

If any of these names mean anything to you, I would very much love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

About 1765, one of my Ancestors living in Delaware, Jacob MOORE married Hanna (STEELE) DONALD. Hanna was the widow of Alexander DONALD. Hanna was the daughter of William STEELE Sr., and was given the home farm in Delaware (Mill Creek Hundred) by the will of her brother William STEELE, Jr., of New London, Pennsylvania, in 1772. She had four children with Mr. DONALD. She had three or possibly four by Mr. MOORE. This is everything that I have on STEELE. I suspect William STEELE, Jr. and possibly his father may have died due to the Revolutionary War.
