Subject: James Steel (b, 1797) - A friend and I are working on HER genealogy. The Steels are proving a real challange. We only know that James Steel (b, 1797) was in York Co., S.C. about 1830. He married Julia A. Nowlin b.1804. (We believe it was probably a second marriage. 2 children were born there.

A few years later he was in Tallatchie Co., Miss. There son James D. was born in 1835, died in 1896. He married Adaline Gibson.

His son, James Franklin Steele was born in 1863 in Miss. and died in 1946. He married Callie Gay Barnes.

Can anyone help? We don't have much to offer in exchange, but you would certainly have helped where help was needed.
