Subject: STEELE, James - I am descended from James STEELE, b. April 1832 in Surry Co., N.C.,m. Mary Thompson in Carrol Co., Va. in 1857. They had four children....Kansas, Sexton, James Randolph, & E. Steele. His parents were Thmas STEELE & Mary ?Stone?. Would appreciate any additional info on the STEELE family from Surry Co., N.C.

Subject: Andrew Steele - My husband Arthur V. Zeigler's mother was a Steele and her mother was a Shears. Since he was not raised by her we know nothing about the family. We do know that he had a gg uncle named John Steele who was in the Civil War at the age of 14 to 18 from Michigan.

Subject: Andrew Steele - Andrew Steele obtained several Warrants in Burke County, North Carolina in 1779. On a 50 acre tract he built a mill and pond on a branch that emptied into Middle Little River. Other Steeles also owned land adjacent to or near the land of Andrew, A Samuel Steele had several tracts of land and probably was close relatives. Other Steeles were James and John. Who were these Steeles, their parents and when did they come to this country?

Subject: Mary Steel - Trying to determine the parents and ancestors of Mary Steel who married Cornelius Vanderbilt of Newton twp, Cumberland County, PA about 1800. Marriage was performed by Rev. Samuel Wilson of the Big Spring Presbyterian Church in Newville.
It is believed Mary was from Philadelphia, PA.

Subject: SARAH STEELE, BORN ABOUT 1734 in Virginia - Sarah Steele, b abt 1734 some where in Va. She married Sampson Woodall 24 March 1756 in Goochland Co, Va. and recorded in the Douglas Register. Need help trying to identify her parents. There are two Steels in Rockbridge or Augusta Co., Va. with daughters Sarah in this time frame. Is she the daughter of Andrew Steele, born 1737, or the daughter of Samuel Steele, born 1731. or neither? Samuel Steele lived 1709-1790. Andrew Steele died 1 aug 1764. He immigrated to America and settled in Rockbridge Co., Virginia. Who are my Sarah Steele's parents.

Subject: Millard Steele, Sr. (Born approx 1889) - Hi Tom, Nice looking website. I too, am a Steele. I have a brother Tom Steele, also. My father, Millard Steele Jr. was born in Washington D.C. in 1914 and before his 1st birthday, his parents separated and my grandmother brought him back to St. Paul, MN, where he grew into adulthood. He never knew his father, Millard Steele, Sr. (Born approx 1889) but his grandfather George M. Steele, Sr. wrote to him off and on for over a decade. I have been trying to find these Steele's as this is a big part of my history that I know nothing about. My grandfather had three siblings: Marie (Steele) Stauffer, Elsie (Steele) Roche and George M. Steele, Jr. This family summered at Chesapeake Bay, lived in Washington D.C. and by 1930 were living in Philadelphia, PA, except for George Steele Jr. who was living in New York City, NY. If this means anything to you or visitors to your site, I would love to hear from from a fellow member of the "Steele" family.
